The race car figure skating basketball comedy Semi-Pro topped the weekend box office with a $15.3 million opening that fell short of funnyman Will Ferrell's most recent pics. (Talladega Nights did $47 mil, while Blades of Glory carved out $33 mil.) Placing second was last week's champ, Vantage Point (with $13 mil).

Rounding out the top five were The Spiderwick Chronicles ($8.8 million), The Other Boleyn Girl (opening with $8.3 mil) and Jumper ($7.6 mil). Christina Ricci's long-concealed Penelope premiered at No. 8, with $4 mil.

I'm not sure which would be worse-the torture it would take to make me sit through Semi-Pro or actually sitting through Semi-Pro.

Maybe now Mr. Ferrell will take a hint and stop with the goofy sports themed movies. Didn't he play the same character in all three anyway? As a matter of fact doesn't he play the same character in all of his goofball movies?

Maybe people are finally getting tired of the ridiculous drek he keeps churning out.

Me! Me! Ooh!! (Waving hand in air wildly.) It's me! I'm tired of the drek!

To be honest, I have no idea why anyone thought he was such a great talent to begin with. I've forgotten, if I ever knew, what he did that was wonderful.

He's on his way to being as tired as Robin Williams.

Actually, I like Robin Williams. He's proven he can actually act if given a decent script. This guy, on the other hand, is a one-trick pony, much like Adam Sandler. I'd rather have my teeth pulled without benefit of anesthesia than to pay money to watch one of his movies.

I like Will Ferrell, but there's no way in heck I was going to watch that. I'm partial to his movies anyway.

I did see Penelope and throughly enjoyed it. Very sweet and funny, which is saying a lot because I'm an action/sci fi/horror/thriller type of girl. My only real problem with the film was that it was too short!
