At last! NBC has found the daughter to Molly Shannon's mother for its much-delayed comedy Kath & Kim (based on the hit Aussie series of the same name). And the winner is... Selma Blair!.... Lifetime has picked Luke Perry and Reba's Joanna Garcia to star in its December MOTW, A Very Merry Daughter of the Bride, which is not a biopic about Jamie Lynn Spears but a feel-good flick about a wedding planner who's all Grinchy about mom Helen Shaver's Eddie Murphy-speed romance with Twin Peaks bad guy Kenneth Welsh. — Ben Katner

I understand in alot of shows you have to suspend your disbelief but Selma playing Molly's daughter? Really?

If you'd ever seen the original Australian version of Kath & Kim, you'd realize that it's not that much of a stretch for Molly to be playing Selma's mother. There is only about five years difference in age between the original's actresses. The actress that plays the mother is made up to seem older than she actually is, while the daughter is made to seem younger.

Selma Blair can player younger than she is. I was actually surprised to see her real age on IMDB, I thought she was younger and to her credit, she's very good at playing annoyed (that's pretty much all she can play well) so she'll be perfect for the role.

I second the previous poster who mentioned that the original Kath & Kim is done with actresses who are made up to look older/younger.

In the Aussie Kath & Kim, the two actresses playing Kath and Kim were BOTH born in 1961.

Molly Shannon is eight years older (born 1964) than Selma Blair (born 1972), but they could definitely play mother and daughter.

Please, they do this all the time on soap operas!

90210?

And "John from Cincinnati" doesn't count. That was dead from the minute it hit the air. Everything was wrong about it, especially the writing.

Donincardona, Luke Perry's in a Movie of the Week, so I'm not sure I catch your comment's meaning. There's no season to finish. And olomaya's right: 90210 was hardly a loser.
