Script OK'd for "Best" Indiana Jones Yet, to Film in '07

During a break from preparing for his duties as grand marshal of Monday's Rose Parade, George Lucas told the Associated Press that he and Steven Spielberg recently finalized the script for the fourth Indiana Jones entry, to film in 2007 and hit theaters in May 2008 — some 19 years after Last Crusade. Said the filmmaker, "It's going to be fantastic... the best one yet."

Though mum on plot details, Lucas teased Indy 4 as a "character piece" filled with "very interesting mysteries," adding, "It's going to be really cool" — if only due to all the ice packs Harrison Ford, 64, will have on hand.

.... I'm excited for the Spielberg half of the film, not for the Lucas influence. (Seriously, did Lucas even HAVE a second draft for Attack of the Clones?)

I'm concerned about Harrison Ford being Indie. Will this be done in the way they did Rocky Balboa? I mean they don't expect us to believe that Harrison Ford is still young and vibrant like back in the day? I'm hoping it's set 20 years later and maybe he's got a studly young apprentice! Wentworth Miller Anyone?

Isn't he going to have to look like he did in the last one, he drank from the holy grail. Wouldnt that mean he would stop againg?

I would think this will have to be a "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in" sort of thing. You know, "This time it's personal" and all, maybe the baddies kidnap some son (Wentworth Miller?) that Indy never knew about.

No, because Tom Hanks has since educated us on the true nature of the Holy Grail ;)

Indiana Jones 4: The Search for the Golden Bed Pan?

How old was Clint Eastwood when he played a Secret Service agent in the movie In the Line of Fire? I think he was around the age Harrison Ford is now, so maybe Ford can pull it off one more time. However, I agree with eChuckler about Lucas's involvement. The man has lost some of his touch.

OK, OK, I've cooled down enough to post. HARRISON FORD IS BACK AS INDIANA JONES!! I DON'T CARE IF HE IS IN A WHEELCHAIR, AS LONG AS HE STILL HAS HIS WHIP! Seriously, there is no way on earth they could even consider recasting that role, so I'm thrilled he has said yes and I'm sure the man thinks enough of his own dignity not to try to pretend to behave as the younger Indy would. The question is, will he have found his "fame and glory" that he wants so badly in Temple of Doom? Do they plan to bring back the best of the recurring characters: Jonathan Rhys-Davies, sadly, they can't resurrect Denholm Elliott as he died in October 1992 at the ripe old age of 70. It would also be nice if they could figure in a way to bring in Jonathan Ke Quan as Short Round, and of course, Sean Connery as Indy's father. I've also heard that Karen Allen and Kate Capshaw have cameos, and wouldn't that be GREAT!! It's also a bonus that Shia LaBoeuf has been signed to play the son: he is a really talented young actor with charisma to spare, so he should fit in well and be able to hold his own against the two veterans, Ford and Connery. In any case, I'll be the first in line, even if I have to camp overnight, and I'm in a wheelchair!
Now, for those of you who think it's going to be as hideous as yet ANOTHER Rocky, give your heads a shake! And again! And another BIG one! Since when do guys with the quality of Steven Spielburg, George Lucas, Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, try to hoodwink their audiences?? There is just no way they would try to slide anything "fake" across their loyal audiences! They have too much intelligence NOT to recognize that their average audience member is WAY too smart and savvy to fall for a suddenly much younger Indy. Ford will be part of the action, as always, he just may not be the number 1 action man that Indiana Jones has always been. Wonder who they'll write in as the biological mother - Karen or Kate? They both still look amazing, too!

2008 is just too far away: what are we to do in the meantime?
