Update: Sarah Michelle Takes a Stab at Buffy Reunion

A lot can change in two hours! Although the initial lineup for the 25th anniversary PaleyFest — akin to the TV version of Cannes, I like to say (as Ausiello rolls his eyes at me) — listed Sarah Michelle Gellar as yet to RSVP for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion, Sunnydale's savior is now on board for the confab.

Other cast members repping the cult hit at the March 20 panel discussion include Amber Benson, Nicholas Brendon, Emma Caulfield, Eliza Dushku, Seth Green, James Marsters and Michelle Trachtenberg, as well as series creator Joss Whedon.

What about Alyson Hannigan?

Well Anthony Head has the excuse that he lives on another continent. Aly Hannigan is def. known that she's invested in the show. There's a good chance that both of them will eventually end up as panelists. Plus they've both been involved in past conferences. SMG has treated most if not all conferences and other Buffy related items like they were poison. Fans are more likely to be curious about whether or not she's there because she's the big question mark and not the other two. All I have to tell her is that her career is in major need of resuscitation and she should go. Fans have been wanting this for a long time.

David Boreanaz would also be nice to have around I think...

It's fashionable to rag on Sarah. Sorry, can't do it. She gave seven years to the show and has never spoken negatively about it or its fans. Glad the rest are showing, but no bad feelings for Sarah sitting this one out.

Besides, it's not like the majority of BUFFY fans will ever get to see it anyway.

According to the official Paley website (http://www.paleycenter.org/festivals/paleyfest2008/index.htm) Sarah is now listed as attending.

Yeah, she is now listed as attending. And actually, Buffy fans probably will be able to see it. I interned at the Paley Center last summer, and most of the seminars from the Paley Fest wind up on their website, OR if you visit the NYC or LA centers, you can visit their viewing library and watch it that way.

I agree that the event probably will be available for wider viewing, but even still, the Paley event would be a bad one to diss. The Paley forums are a cut above the average fan fest and can be a big deal. I went to the "Mad Men" forum in Los Angeles a few months ago and it was packed with fans with a serious interest in television, its history, and with quality programming.

I really loved "Buffy" and thought SMG was excellent in her role, but I really wish she'd get over this seemingly morose persona she projects. She's talented, beautiful, well-respected, and has made a mark in television history. She should lighten up for a night and have a conversation with people who admire her work and just want to express that.

Let's borrow Angel from Bones to complete the reunion.

Yeah and have Micheal Aussielo interview him on the way out. Doh!

The Paley Festival can also be a bit of a "snob-fest." I worked there in the mid to late 1990's, and I was shot down everytime I brought up adding the number one television show in the world at that time, Baywatch. Xena and Hercules were also two other shows that came up against a brick wall while both being very popular, but not airing in the golden primetime arena and of high quality that TPTB wanted above all else.

I haven't paid much attention after letting my membership run out, but did either Farscape, or Stargate: SG-1 (the longest running sci-fi show in the history of television), make it to the Paley show? I somehow doubt it.

**Slow Golf Clap**

Slutty the Vampire's Ho will take a moment to grace us mere mortals with her presence between filming crappy horror remakes.

Has she ever done a good movie? When I tell people I was fan of the show, it's of the cast, everyone but SMG.

Gosh, has anyone ever thought that maybe SMG doesn't hang out with more fans because she's spent the past 10 years being ripped apart of the people who are fans of the show? Honestly, I can't hold anything against her. It's not a recent thing, brought on by her attitude or whatever. I've been watching the same badmouthing of SMG going on for as long as I can remember.
There's no reason to think she's anything but a perfectly nice, normal person unless you know her personally.

And it's also silly to badmouth her movies while praising the others on the show. Do you really want to hold up SMG's film career to Alyson Hannigan's? I know, American Pie was sophisticated as they come, right? Very classy.

Leave the poor girl alone. I don't get the constant need to rip her apart. What has she done to you people to make you hate her some much? Did she kill your puppy or something?
