Samaire Armstrong Opens Up About Rehab and Her Dirty Sexy Future

It hasn't been the easiest year for Samaire Armstrong, but anyone who thought the Dirty Sexy Money starlet would stay home and sulk can think again. At the premiere for the Australian documentary Bra Boys she stepped out in better shape than ever, hugging and high-fiving reporters on the red carpet. "I've been exercising a lot," she smiled, taking in all the compliments.

Since TVGuide.com first reported that ABC is not picking up Armstrong's contract for DSM's Season 2, we wondered what will become of Juliette Darling. "I will be back for an episode or two, or however long they let me stay," Armstrong told TV Guide. The twin's exit, though, will not be a final one. "I'm alive still! I don't get into a car accident!" the actress maintained with a laugh.

The question of whether or not Armstrong wanted to leave the show was met with a good-natured shrug: "Yes and no. Mostly no, but... that's the way the business goes."

Recently out of rehab, Armstrong was willing to share what she's learned. "Surround yourself with good people who care about you and take a second to evaluate how you feel mentally, spiritually and health-wise when you're not doing those bad things," she said. "To be able to exist without [those things]... to me, that is better than anything — better than success, better than being on drugs or being drunk. Just being happy inside.... I wouldn't give that up for anything." — Carita Rizzo

Samaire is a beautiful girl and a good actress. However, whenever I hear these pat answers about rehab, I am reminded to a terrific moment of truth in Kenneth Brannagh's film DEAD AGAIN when the defrocked shrink played by Robin Williams consults with him on his smoking addiction: "What you have to do is decide if you are a smoker or a non-smoker and then be that." There it is.

I wish nothing but the best for Samaire and hope she recovers from whatever she needs to recover from and find success in the future.

That being said, I don't think she is a good actress and was very bad on Dirty Sexy Money, so I am not surprised that her contract was not renewed.

Rather than have less of Juliet, though, I wish that they would recast the role. Jeremy and Juliet's twin interactions could be very special and Juliet could be a more integral character if the right person played her.

Please Dirty Sexy Money producers, please reconsider and recast the role rather than keep Samaire on for even one more episode.

I disagree, I think the character of Juliet wasn't working. They should have aged her down or gotten rid of her all together. While I love Samaire from The OC and Entourage, she can do better than Juliet Darling (and I'm saying this as a huge fan of DSM).

Good luck to her in her future endeavors.

Always loved Samaire on "The O.C."...she being one of the best things about the show.

And she was scandalously underused on "Entourage".

While she was a big reason we stuck with "Dirty Sexy", I was alarmed by her appearance. Where she seemed the epitome of Emo-healthy on "The O.C.", she looked downright anorexic on DSM.

Here's hoping she conquers whatever demons have threatened her, and that her future is brighter than one may hope for.

I'm not familiar with Samaire's previous work, but I thought she made what could have been an annoyingly cliche character charmingly quirky. She and her "twin" make a fun pair, so I hope she gets her life straight so that TPTB will bring her back full time.

I agree with what another person said; I like the interactions between Jeremy and Juliette and would like it if they recast the role rather than wrote the character out. The twin dynamic is very special and unique (although maybe only twins can understand and relate to that?) so I'd like it if they retained that in the show.

I wish her luck and hope the way she says she feels is the truth, and she holds on to that.

Love the show and can't wait till it FINALLY returns. Think, considering how well it's written/acted, they'll be able to do fine with her written out, and wonder when she said "twins" whether it was plural and they both will hit the dust to return infrequently. Any word on whether it's a "solo" bye for now?
