Will J.J. Abrams' Star Trek feature take its villainy to the Maximus? With the Enterprise's fledgling crew gradually getting cast — Zachary Quinto (as Spock) and Anton Yelchin (Chekov), to name two — there is a story in the New York Post that Russell Crowe is being courted to play the central baddie.... Per Variety, Fight Club members Brad Pitt and Edward Norton will reunite for an adaptation of State of Play.... Director Roman Polanski has pulled out of the $100-million Pompeii, and preparations on the big-budget epic have been halted due to fear of a looming actors' strike.

Ooooh, Russell as a baddie? I could come to like that. ;) But really I'd LOVE to see him as Capt. Kirk! THAT would be awesome!! :-x

BUT WHAT IF RUSSELL TRIES TO HIT ZACHARY QUINTO WITH A TELEPHONE?!

Wait, nevermind, Zachary will just slice Russell's head off.

Good news about Pompeii, at least. If the infamous child rapist isn't directing it, it's back on my list of movies to watch for!

Could be interesting... Crowe is that depressing Hollywood sub-species, a good actor whose off-set escapades have been more interesting than anything he's done on-screen for years. Seriously, whoever convinced Russ that Proof of Life, A Good Year or anything involving Ron Howard was a good idea needs to be fired. Like yesterday.

Let's hope 3:10 to Yuma is just the start of a comeback, because RC's been away far too long.

I'll agree with you on Proof of Life (although for me it was more the Meg that put me off) but I loved A Good Year! One of my all-time favorite Russ movies. :-D

OMG, this news is so old they've already denied it and everyone else has moved on. Where you've been?
