First they take over the lead in every new drama series, and now they're barging in on Jack Black's turf. British comedian Russell Brand, who made his mark Stateside as Kristen Bell's Eurotrash rocker-beau in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (and wowed the late-night crowd with a recent Conan O'Brien visit), has been tapped by MTV to host the 2008 Video Music Awards. This year's kudoscast will air live from the Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7.

The less Jack Black the better. And Russell Brand is hilarious. Unlike Black, he can be funny without a script.

I'm not a fan of Russell Brand at all. But the more time he spends in the US, the less time he'll be back here in the UK on our TV screens so I can't complain too much. :)

Well, thank you for saying what I have been saying for years....what the hell is going on? Why are BRITS and AUSTRALIANS starring in every new TV show? It is driving me INSANE. Usually their American accents are not great and more importantly there are thousands of talented AMERICAN actors who should get these roles on these AMERICAN TV series.
