Rosie O'Donnell Denies She's Abusive Toward Her Kids

Rosie O'Donnell is taking issue with a new article in The Globe that describes her as being abusive toward her children.

The article ran alongside a photo in which O'Donnell appears to be loudly scolding her 12-year-old son. The piece also suggests O'Donnell has been abusive toward her two other younger children by repeatedly yelling at the older child in front of them.

"This story is absolutely ludicrous and ridiculous," her publicist told the New York Post. "There's no truth to it whatsoever."

The representative did not say if the former TV talk show host would seek legal action against the newspaper. — J.R. Whalen

Well, it's a darn good thing "The Globe" never saw ME rip any one of my kids a new one in public. I was not polite at all and didn't care who saw/listened to me.

how would you know the difference between her every day yell and her "my kid's misbehaving" yell?

Of course she abuses her kids, she abuses everyone simply by talking. There aren't many people with a more annoying voice. Hopefully it doesn't escalate to physical abuse.

She has done a lot of work for children and I don't think she'd take this kind of accusation lightly.

If they were really worried that she was abusing her kids - why not report her to the authorities? Give me a break. They just love to put out these stories that only have a picture of her yelling. She could be yelling because a plane is overhead. I'm so sick of the tabloids.

curlup and cindicat - I thought the same thing. I'm no Rosie fan, but if yelling constitutes abuse...good grief!

If all you do is yell at a kid then that is abuse.

If you never yell at a kid, then that is neglect.

Hmmm, sounds like a tempest in a teapot to me....EVERY parent yells at their kids sometimes....unless she's hitting them this is being blown out of proportion....

Not a fan of Rosie, but as someone who works in the juvenile justice field, I can't understand why it's abusive to correct your children. You yell, it's abuse, you spank them, it's abuse. You let them do what they want and go to juvenile hall, it's OK. That's sad.

Saw the picture. Meh. Looks like a normal scolding I used to get when I was 12. This is news?

Same old crap...why is it okay to trash everyone in the 'news' (using that word loosely) these days? I hope Rosie sues them.

I've been a 12-year-old boy so I can say without equivocation, being yelled at by mom (even loudly) is not abuse. Also, sometimes a 12-year-old boy needs to be yelled at. This is outrageous, because it trivializes real abuse.

Now, one thing I do accuse her of is killing Robert Guillaume! J'accuse!!!

When she was on Martha Stewart on Tuesday (not a regular viewer...just tuned in for Rosie...eh-heh...), she talked about being on Celebrity Jeopardy with Robert Guillaume. Then, she went on to say, "sadly, no longer with us, Benson". Of course, Guillaume is still alive, and celebrated his 80th birthday last November.

She may have been thinking about the stroke he suffered on the set of (the late, lamented) SportsNight about ten years ago. She may have honestly thought he died back then. Ooops.

Any fan of Rosie's knows how much she loves her kids, so only those rabid Rosie haters will believe this tripe. The only time I would accuse her of child abuse would be if she tried to teach the kids how to spell by having them read her blog! ;)
