Rock maven Richie Sambora was arrested for a DUI Tuesday night in Laguna Beach.

The Bon Jovi guitarist was caught driving "erratically" in a black Hummer and was pulled over at around 11 pm. After failing several sobriety tests, he was left livin' on a prayer when he was taken to the police station. He reportedly complied with authorities and took a blood test. There was no sign of drug use.

There were, however, three female passengers in the car with Sambora at the time of arrest. According to TMZ, one of them was his 10-year-old daughter, Ava, whose mother is his ex-wife, Heather Locklear.

Sambora, who has had two stints in rehab, was released early Wednesday morning. Jon Bon Jovi, meanwhile, has not publicly commented on the arrest. Does Sambora give rehab — or, at least, celebs who imbibe and drive — a bad name? Or do you sympathize with him? — Anna Dimond

I don't sympathize with him at all. If he was intentionally driving drunk with kids in the car, he should be thrown in jail.

For what reason would anyone have to sympathize with someone who drove drunk, let alone while their daughter was in the car? Does the author of this article sympathize with him, and if so, why?

Driving drunk with a kid in the car should be serious enough of an offense to forgo "cute" little BonJovi-song-title quips thrown into the reporting of this.

Anyone caught driving drunk is dumber than dirt--not sympathetic. I sympathize with his kid (if she was there)--nothing like watching Dad pulled over for a DUI. It makes a special parent/child bonding moment. Idiot.

This makes me so sad. Addiction is a horrible thing. It's one thing to endanger yourself, but to put your child at risk is the epitomy of stupidity. I'm sure if Sambora was in his right mind, he'd never have done this sort of thing. However, that's the slippery slope of addiction. You think you have it under control, but really you aren't clean, until you are truly willing.

Sympathize with him for his addiction ... yes.

Sympathize with him for driving drunk and with his 10-year-old daughter in the car ... absolutely not. Poor little girl.

That is child endangerment. It's illegal. And Heather Locklear should file some kind of motion to get his visiting privileges modified so he can only see his daughter under supervision.

Inexcusable behavior.

If I were Heather Locklear, I would take my daughter away from Richie Sambora so fast his head would spin. Their custody agreement definitely needs to be revised.

NYJoey77 is absolutely right. If you're an adult and you want to overindulge, fine. But either stay home or take a cab. And if you're a wealthy adult who can well afford it have a driver on call and ride in the back seat doing whatever the heck you want. But driving drunk, and worse, with your child in the car? Mandatory jail time. No leeway whatsoever.
