Here are this Wednesday's numbers. Tuesday's ratings, which I didn't get around to crunching yesterday, can be found in comments:

8 pm/ET
Welcoming 21.07 million total holiday guests to the swamp, ABC's Shrek the Halls special was far, far and away the night's most-watched program and tops in demos. Lead-out Grinch didn't flinch much, holding onto 18.74 mil of that audience. NBC's Rockefeller tree special did nine mil, followed by Kid Nation (7.3 mil), a pair of 'Til Deaths (six mil) and Top Model (5.03 mil, up 1.4 mil).

9 pm
Criminal Minds topped the hour with 16.26 mil (up 440 thou), and was No. 1 in demos. Bolstered by the 'toons, Pushing Daisies was up 2.6 mil, to 10.18 mil. Kitchen Nightmares (seven mil) hit an all-time high, while Bionic Woman's season (series?) finale fell just shy of six mil, shedding another 300K. Gossip Girl flirted with three mil, its second-largest audience to date.

10 pm
CSI:NY dropped 330K but led the pack with 14.03 mil. Dirty Sexy Money (see Cheers & Jeers) followed with 7.15 mil (up 630K), while Life (6.26 mil) slipped 670 thou.

I actually watched the Shrek special (I was waiting for The Grinch and I was blowing off going to the gym). It wasn't too bad. Gingerbread man's reaction to Santa was the only thing that made me laugh.

What shocked me was how great The Grinch looked in HD! It looked brand new!

Thanks for posting Tuesday's ratings too. While Life slipped a bit, it still did better than BW, and I believe the demos were a bit better as well. Nice to see the Grinch still has ratings power. I must admit I totally skipped over Shrek.

Gingerbread man's reaction to Santa was the only thing that made me laugh.

I neerly pooped a gumdrop when he tore off, screaming! Shrek was much funnier than I had hoped. Lotsa good music, too. Oh, and Pinnochio's sticking?!

Yeah, but what happens when it's back to opening the night cold, without a boffo lead-in? :(

Anybody think Dirty Sexy Money would do better on Thursdays after Grey's?

Shrek was ok. There were a some funny parts, but I wasn't laughing as much as I expected to be.
I just felt like they were trying to hit you with so much stuff in a short time, it was a little overwhelming. I think it would have been better as a one-hour show.

I hope bones keeps it's audience while it's off til the new year. :( I'm gonna miss it.

I dvr'd the shrek/grinch hour, so I'll have to watch it later.

I'm glad Life got a full season pick-up. I actually enjoyed that more than daisies last night.
