Ratings: Prison Opens, K-Ville Gets Big, Easy Numbers

Set the fall-premiere ratings loose! Matt is officially back from Emmysland, here offering a snapshot look at Monday's two launches, both on Fox:

Prison Break opened Season 3 with an audience of 7.4 million total viewers. That's a 20 percent drop from its sophomore-season debut. I blame the unsightly Bellick, stumbling around in his filthy drawers. (No offense intended, Wade.)

• At 9 pm, the series premiere of K-Ville welcomed 8.96 mil to its version of post-Katrina N.O. That's about 400K better than Vanished did as PB's lead-out a year ago. K-Ville bested almost all of the (mostly repeat) competition, save for CBS' rowdy Men.

I think thats kind of weird. Naturally, I dismissed K-ville, but I hoped for much better for Prison Break. I think its due to that rather poor promotion tactics of Fox. Instead of heralding the return of PB, they focus all their attention on a show that is quite likely to fail. And the reverse occurs...

I wanted to like K-Ville but that ridiculous, stupid twist at the end turned me right off.

(spoiler)

Are we to believe that a convicted criminal is now a cop? They might as well have had the guy say he was from outer space, it is that stupid. Way to wreck a potentially decent show before it even got off the ground.

Yes, I think Fox could have (again) done a much better job of promoting PB.

What does K-Ville stand for anyway?

The "K" in K-Ville stands for Katrina.

Why can't people just like a show for what it is? It's a TV SHOW not real life. I didn't find the cop thing all that far fetched in NO as records were lost in the hurricane by the thousands and we don't know what crime he committed. It's a decent show with some two great lead actors. I hope it lasts.

Thanks. I wondered if that's what it was supposed to mean, but that didn't really make sense to me.

Which one is the criminal?

Cole Hauser is the criminal (Trevor Cobb on the show)

I really enjoyed the show and will refrain from any nasty comments until I at least see the next episode. Many things change between a pilot episode and actual production!

Matt, how did the premiere of Deal or No Deal do? Did Trump's appearance help the ratings at all?

"Naturally, I dismissed K-Ville."

Care to explain why, naturally, it's not worth checking out? Just curious.

BTW, I don't recall Prison Break being so deeply rooted in reality, either.

I thinkit's time for Prison Break to go to the land of cancellations, it's getting dragged out. K-ville, not bad,not great, stories could get better.

Deal or No Deal is still on?

I love PB. Not sure why the ratings are down. I think it was tough seeing some of the characters we enjoyed get killed off last season. I am excited to see what this season brings. I could hardly watch K-ville. I really wanted to like it, but I thought the dialogue was terrible.
