Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles by Cathy Kanaly/Fox
Talk about "I'll be back." Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Sunday night premiered to 18.3 million total viewers and was broadcast television's highest-rated scripted series debut in three years among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. (Among total viewers it was the highest in almost two years.) It was also Fox's highest-rated scripted series debut in over seven years among 18- to 49-year-olds (since Dark Angel, Oct. 2000) and in eight years in total viewers.

On the other end of the time continuum, CBS' Comanche Moon averaged 15.75 million viewers on its first of three nights, the largest audience for any network TV-movie in more than two years.

Lastly, lest anyone be rid the memory of the pathetic Globes news conference, NBC's Billy Bushy telecast was awarded with a mere 5.8 million viewers.

bloated numbers for ttscc, probably drop off by at least 5 million, good news for scripted tv anyways

GO SCRIPTED SHOWS/MOVIES!!!!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was high adrenline, awesomely acted and definitely won me over and I had high hopes due to loving Summer Glau and liking the concept of the show.

I watched TTSCC (they really need to shorten that name) even though I've never seen any of the terminator movies. I had a vague idea what the movies were about but wow. This show really assumes that the viewer has seen the movies, at least the first one, doesn't it?

I'm not sure if I liked it or not. I will give it a couple of more episodes before I decide I don't.

Wondering what people who have actually seen the movie though of the show.

Cindy,

Actually it assumes that you've seen the first 2 movies. The series takes place between the 2nd and 3rd movies.

IIRC, the Dyson character was from the 2nd movie.

SweetOne: The show takes place instead of the 3rd movie. Pretend it doesn't exist. I do and so do the show's creators.

I've been a fan of the show since this summer, so yay!!!

The pilot episode is closer to the movies in terms of action and effects then I expected with a TV budget, which is a good thing. We'll see if they can keep it up. When I first saw the pilot in august/september I thought it was good and I still think it's the best pilot so far this tv season and probably the best pilot episode since Lost.

As for those that haven't seen any of the movies, I think you sort of do need to see the first 2 movies to fully understand the background of the show. Related to this I'm rather suprised how many people have posted on tvguide in the various places about having since the show last night but having not seen the movies. I wouldn't think the show would interest anyone who hadn't seen at least one of the movies by now.

It looked like the episode last night altered the timeline so that the third movie would never take place. With the jump from 1999 to 2008, I'm taking that they "changed history." There's no way now for John Connor to be the right age for the third movie... which is fine since the third movie mostly sucked.

(Also, is Dyson going to show up? Because if not, why bother using the picture of a different actor?)

Curious as to how the new episode of Brothers and Sisters fared last night...

I'm pretty sure that WAS the original actor who played Dyson. He's on Eureka now but I always think of him blowing up Sky Net after being shot in T2.

I'm a huge fan of the movies (except 3), and I thought this was great for a TV show. I hope it does well and keeps up this pace.

P.S. - The guy they showed as Dyson on the show is not the same from the movie.

First, there wasn't much else to watch. Second, there's been a lot of buzz on tvguide.com about this show and how good it was going to be. Third, nobody said we should have seen the first 2 movies before watching the show, so I figured it would fill in the blanks for us. It kind of did but not really. I'm a pretty quick learner, so I'm willing to give it a few episodes to catch me up and hook me.

By the way, does anyone know how I could get in touch with Summer Glau? I have a 26-year-old single son. I want her to marry him and give me grandchildren. They would make beautiful children together, :^O

Matt, why bother calling the awards show "pathetic"? Isn't that like kicking a man who's just fallen down? They did the best they could in a terrible situation. How about throwing them a bone, eh?
