Ratings: People Losing Faith in Eli Stone
Jonny Lee Miller in Eli Stone by Michael Ansell/ABC
Thursday's numbers, boiled down for your enjoyment:
8 pm/ET Survivor: Subtitle Too Long to Type delivered 13.12 million total viewers, a slip of just 750K from its premiere. Behind Deal or No Deal and a Lost repeat, Fox's telecast of the NAACP Image Awards drew 3.89 mil, while Smallville dipped 300 thou to 3.67 mil.
9 pm Lost found 13.62 million viewers, losing nine percent week-to-week. Celebrity Apprentice (9.09 mil) was up 430K, and Supernatural (2.9 mil) gained 230 thou.
Discussion topic: Do you think any of the Oceanic Six would get dragged onto Celeb Apprentice?
10 pm Eli Stone, at 7.28 mil, is down 37 percent from its debut, and trailed a Trace repeat. Lipstick Jungle (6.13 mil) is now off 20 percent from its own premiere.

Too bad to hear the ratings for "Eli Stone" are on a downslide - I am liking the show more each week! I chose to watch it over the "Cashmere Mafia" clone, "Lipstick Jungle." Hope it can stick around...

This actually makes me lose faith in TV viewers. That many people watch Celebrity Apprentice? Ugh...
On another note, I really like Eli Stone more every week. I hope it starts to pick up viewers instead of losing them!

Great to see Supernatural gain for such an awesome episode.
And I actually liked Lipstick Jungle. Weird, I know. But it's an all right show.

I can see why people are dropping from Eli Stone - it tends to get a little preachy. I'm going to give it one more week, but if I'm hit over the head with another storyline I can't get behind, I'm done. I thought the autism as a result of inoculation was a bit too much and last night's "I joined the military but didn't realize I'd actually have to follow through even though my child misses me" storyline was tough to swallow. Yes, it's awful that people are deployed away from their families, but if you can't deal with that thought, don't join! My husband considered re-enlisting but when we had our child, he decided not to because he couldn't bear leaving us behind if he were deployed. Had he re-enlisted and then begged to get out of the military so he could come home to us, I would be consumed with guilt and frankly, I would lose some respect for him.
That is solely my OPINION, so please don't respond with comments about how I don't understand, I'm a horrible person and such!

I'm with yoy lovejack. Eli Stone could use a whole lot more subtlety. But I guess since I already dropped it...

I just find Eli Stone boring. The lead character is completely uninteresting. I guess he's supposed to be this jerk who turns good due to his visions or something, but he really doesn't seem like that much of a jerk. He's just...boring. Even the way he looks is boring. I mean, I'm not saying he's a bad looking guy or anything but if I saw him on the street I don't even think I'd recognize him. He just looks completely forgettable.
Also, for a show about crazy visions the show sure lacks humor. I mean, I don't think I've laughed at the show yet. I mean, just think what a superior show like Desperate Housewives would do with the scene where Eli was on the dessert table. Why did they play that scene so seriously? There was so much comic potential there.

Don't loose faith!! It's one of the best shows on TV!! I would put it right behind American Idol, Project Runway and Survivor

Don't loose faith!! It's one of the best shows on TV!! I would put it right behind American Idol, Project Runway and Survivor. Yes, you could, and these are all shows I would never watch. (we all have different tastes) I'd rather watch a weak show like Eli than the above. I think Tom Cavanaugh's role ads a lot of sobriety (ignore pun) to this fluffy show.

The problem with Eli Stone isn't the caoncept or the actors, but with the storywriting. The plotlines are stupid, if not downright wrong. For instance, hoopla generation is attempted by rehashing the whole 'mercury in the vaccine causes autism' drek. Point of fact, it's been disproven scientifically many, mnay times, and way before this pilot was written. So why use something stupid? Are the writers *trying* to misinform the public and endanger children? Nah, the two followup stories were just as goofy. Too bad, because the concept had lots of potential.

Berlanti is such a fave of mine, I thought I'd totally enjoy Eli Stone... no humor, no empathy or wanting to 'get close' to the performers... I was originally happy to see 'Harold' from Everwood and 'Jack Bristow' from Alias... two excellently written and acted shows, so imagine my disappointment when I realized that Eli Stone doesn't have the warmth and balance of Everwood, or the excitement and amazement of Alias..Better writers could turn this show around, by injecting humor, excitement and warmth ..just my opinion
