Anne Heche in Men in Trees by Jack Rowand/ABC
8 pm/ET
Wife Swap (5.64 mil) edged out Big Brother (5.57 mil) to claim third behind AI and Deal. Top Model matched the premiere's 3.86 mil.

9 pm
Leading out of Idol at 9:30, Back to You matched Wednesday's series-best 12.3 mil. Supernanny (8.36 mil) surged to nip Law & Order: CI (8.34 mil). A Girlicious repeat did 2.02 mil, which is actually a bit better than Monday's fresh airing.

10 pm
Men in Trees (finally... ) returned to an audience of 5.66 mil, placing far behind Law & Order (11.45 mil) and a CSI: NY repeat (eight mil). Still, Trees did a mil better than the most recent Cashmere Mafia and was more or less on par with its last fresh ep.

MiT might have done better in the ratings if ABC had bothered to promote it's return at all. But then, given that ABC hasn't put much effort into making this show accessible to it's existing fan base, much less grow said fan base from day one, I suppose I was expecting a bit much.

MIT was preempted in my area for local news coverage. I wonder if this happened in other areas as well?

Regarding MIT, one thing to keep in mind about this week and next week's episodes are that the Project Runway finales shows are on at the same time at MIT. Personally, I love both shows, but I decided to watch PR instead of MIT.

argh. I hate ABC. They didn't promote MIT coming back! I swear if they renew According to Jim and not MIT I'll stop watching ABC.

I hugged MIT!! I was so happy to finally get to watch again!! Mind you, when it first premiered I had no intention to watch it...was NOT an Anne Heche fan, but I ended up watching the premiere and I just loved it.

I do think ABC has a death wish for it, they have constantly moved it from one day and time to another, taken it off the air for months at a time, they don't promote it. Wouldn't it be nice if they got a portion of the promotion that Eli Stone has been getting??

I think ABC ought to air it in an 8pm time slot! This show doesn't get the respect it deserves!

I don't care what time it airs!!!
I was suprised my Husband stayed up just to watch MIT. He is asleep at 9:00pm no matter what. But he is hooked. It will do better in the ratings when the Network establishes a real time slot. Still is the best show on TV.
Have you seen some of the garbage they actually put on in prime time slots?
Is this becoming a Jerry Springer world?
Welcome Home!!!! I enjoyed every min of the show. If ABC takes this off again, I will be done with ABC for good.
You never want to show to end.

I definitely hugged MIT! Loved it, taped it, and watched it again! However, I feel ABC's promotion of this show was too little, too late. They have a few favorites that they constantly promote, and MIT has always practically been ignored. I'm not sure why ABC doesn't love this show, but I do see a trend in the tv arena. If it is filthy, trite, and stupid then it pulls in big numbers. If it is a feel good show like MIT or maybe Friday Night Lights (which I personally don't watch but hear good things about)then the networks put little faith and effort behind them. Maybe that is the fault of the audience because they take the trash that they are given and watch it anyway. I remember a day when the networks used to give a show a chance to develop an audience. Cheers, Friends, even Seinfeld weren't big hits in their first season. But NBC stood behind them and look what happened! MIT could be a huge hit if it was promoted in the right way! And maybe if a DVD were ever available more people could catch up on the show and fall in love with it like the rest of us TreeHuggers!

I hugged MIT!!! Even my husband stayed up to watch it and he falls asleep by 8 pm most nights. We were both laughing and loving that the MIT gang were back. ABC did almost no promotion for this and put it in a late time slot which really shows that they don't want it to succeed. I am just dumbfounded how they can renew According to Jim and treat this show and FNL the way they do. No matter, we will be watching whenever and wherever ABC puts it. Just wish they would leave it be and let it have a chance.

Matt, did you have any numbers for Back to You? I'm curious to see how the second episode did.

Yes! This show needs more respect! I feel like I am lost watching last night after such a long hiatus. Did I miss an episode , No, I think ABC has jerked this show around so much that one got lost in the network shuffle.
