Ratings: Bionic Woman Gives Addison a Scare

This Wednesday, as DWTS' first results show topped the night with 16.62 million total viewers:

8 pm/ET
Kid Nation was a distant second with 7.61 mil, a 15 percent drop from its premiere. Similarly, Fox's twofer of Back to You (7.54 mil) and 'Til Death (6.2 mil) each shed 20 percent of their previous audiences. Top Model (4.85 mil) saw 300K take a catwalk.

9 pm
Private Practice (14.4 mil) came away with a slight lead over Bionic Woman (13.6 mil) in total viewers, though Jaime Sommers drew a slightly sexier demo. (Note: The Grey's eppy that laid the foundation for the spin-off drew 21 mil. Apples, oranges, I know.) Criminal Minds was No. 3 with 12.7 mil (a 23 percent plunge from a year ago). Gossip Girl (2.55 mil) was down 30 percent from its debut. UPDATE: BW was NBC's highest-rated Wednesday series launch (in 18-49) since '99's The West Wing, and is the TV-season-to-date's best drama debut in said demo.

10 pm
CSI: NY delivered 12.7 mil (down 21 percent from last fall's opener), followed by ABC's superfun Dirty Sexy Money (10.4 mil, aka not-so-super retention out of PP) and NBC's Life (10.15 mil, but the time period's leader in the 18-49 demo).

Sorry to hear Gossip Girl took a plunge. I haven't watched this weeks episode because I watched Private Practice. And it was very hard to get through that episode!

I'm worried for Gossip Girl, very competitive shows it is against on. CSI NY tops the hour again?! Very competitive Wednesday

Great to see Bionic Woman's numbers up, but hopefully that doesn't make the people behind the show think they have nothing to fix. Dirty Sexy Money was definitely superfun. Hope it's audience grows.

I love Gossip Girl. Hopefully heads will return after people have watched Bionic Woman and Private Practice's inferior debuts. I'm going to delete Private Practice from my DVR list. That was really, really hard to watch. Usually, I don't hate a show as instantly as I did with that. Completely unlikeable show.

I don't know if this makes much of a difference in the complicated scheme of ratings, but a lot of DirecTV subscribers' televisions were on the blink last night.

I spent most of Private Practice's running time on the phone with customer service trying to figure out why none of my local channels were working.

Apparently, they launched a new satellite this week. The lady I talked to in technical support said the channels will be screwy for the next couple of days as they get things up and running. She also said they'd been fielding angry calls all day long.

Seems like NBC's fortune is starting to turn around with original and creative programming. I hope that their comedy block tonight will do just as well.

Josh8199 were you trying to watch HD locals? I don't have an HD receiver yet and everything from DirecTV in SD was just fine for me all night.

Bionic woman did surprisingly well with strong competition. I was equally surprised Criminal Minds slipped to the 3rd place. Among the shows I watched, I enjoyed Dirty Sexy Money best but the rating doesn't look good. I didn't like Private Practice very much.

Didn't like Bionic Woman at all. But I will watch next couple of episodes to see if it improves. As for Private Practice, I didn't watch mainly because I was so turned off by that 2 hour backdoor pilot that they did months ago, I vowed to never watch again. I swear that episode left such a bad taste in my mouth. It was like the worst 2 hours of television I've ever seen. Everything about it was just ingenuine in terms of the acting and dialogue, and plus it was boring as hell. On top of that, critics said that last night's premiere episode was bad too, so I was like theres no point in watching it.

Gossip Girl replays Sundays at 8pm EST! That's when I'll be watching because of how full Wednesdays are. Maybe CW could take the Heroes rebroadcast thing and do it for Gossip Girl to bring the ratings up.

wildbill: Sorry, I did mean HD locals. I should've been more clear. I ended up having to watch SD instead. I KNOW that sounds petty, but trust me, once you get HD you'll never know how you lived without it (kinda like TiVo). I may be eating ramen noodles and canned ravioli, but I've got an awesome TV! Talk about having your priorities straight...
