Ratings: ABC's Shots Rebounds, But....

This Thursday, in a jiffy:

8 pm/ET
Survivor led with 14 million total viewers, on par with last week. In second, Betty (10.35 mil) was up 570,000. Behind 5th Grader, NBC's Earl (7.75 mil) dipped 250K, but lead-out 30 Rock (6.61 mil) slipped 770 thou. Smallville (4.75 mil) gained 190K.

9 pm
CSI (19.64 mil) slipped more than a mil but yet again bested Grey's (18.65 mil) in viewers, while ABC's soaper was off the charts in the key demos. The Office (8.9 mil) rebounded from last week's slide with a 410K increase. Supernatural (3.23 mil) was up 260 thou.

10 pm
Without a Trace dominated with 13.6 mil, but after another drop is now off 18 percent from its premiere. ABC's Big Shots (9.25 mil) rebounded from last week's plunge with a 600K gain, but was crippled by second-half tune-out to the tune of three million. ER placed third with 8.4 mil (down 600 thou).

Smallville and Supernatural ratings are good compared to the other CW shows and they have BRUTAL competition at that

CSI and GREY are both down, WHY???

Thanks for these.

Last week began a year of Fridays with constantly crossed fingers, praying for Supernatural to be above three million. This week's good news!

ABC keeps on trying to cheat its way into getting Big Shots okay numbers by extending Grey's past 10:00. That explains the three million drop off at the half hour mark. I don't watch Supernatural but I am really impressed in how it does in that timeslot. If only Reaper could do the same against House.

It drives me crazy when these shows extend past 1 hour like Grey's does (or Lost does). It always messes up my recording.

I am sad to see that 30 Rock slipped this week :( Is it just me or hasn't Ugly Betty reached 11+ million viewers since early last season?

Supernatural rocks on!

Not having watched CSI or Grey's I don't get the appeal, but if anyone wants to know why Supernatural fans are so, well, fanatic about the show, we'll be sure to count the many, many reasons!

What's with the "More Top Stories" tagline "Ratings: Grey's continues to dominate" on the home page when CSI had more viewers? Has anyone mastered second grade arithmetic at "TV Guide"?

Yeah why is Grey's tagged as dominating? They haven't dominated anything but the demo. Man TV GUIDE is so biased to CSI. Makes it looks like something it totally is not.

As to overall drop in viewership maybe it's because of the baseball playoffs.

It's a fair (if rudely expressed) cop. The homepage tease has been edited.

The overall ratings are probably down because they're comparing the ratings to the premiere's which always brings in more viewers each year. Headlines are so sensationalized. Plus it takes 2 weeks according to another page on tvguide, to count the DVR (live +7) ratings. That's the shows that are watched within 7 days after recording.

On the CSI/Grey's argument. I tried watching Grey's Season 2 when it aired. I was so tired of it by end of season, I didn't even watch the season ender. I'm CSI all the way. Watched every single season without disappointment.

Are there any plans to have ratings for DVRs and/or Web views? I work Thursdays nights, so I DVR my BFF Jensen and watch The Office on Fridays on the Web.

What exactly does this mean? Someone knew they were putting forth information that would be construed wrongly but did it anyway? What exactly does TVG have against CSI? So last year when CSI was (for the most part) losing in overall viewers on a weekly basis (for First Run eps0 TVG was happy enough to report it. Now that CSI is beating Grey's you still find a way to take the shine off? That's so not cool. EW just reported in it's latest mag that CSI continues to shine while Grey's fades... that sounds more correct to me... but thanks for changing it...!
