Monday's numbers:

8 pm/ET
ABC's presentation of A Raisin in the Sun averaged 12.7 million total viewers over its three-hour run and was No. 1 in the key demos from 9 to 11 pm. That said, in the 8 o'clock hour it was bested by Deal or No Deal (15.32 mil). A special airing of Moment of Truth delivered 8.55 mil for Fox.

9 pm
NBC's My Dad (7.8 mil) was down 20 percent from its premiere, but still emerged as better than Sarah Connor (7.12 mil, down a mil). The CW's Girlicious matched last week's 1.72 mil.

10 pm
Trailing Raisin and a CSI: Miami repeat, Medium (7.6 mil) slipped 850K.

Great, now Diddy's going to use that as an excuse to keep "acting." The horror!

Because, melbye, the average American TV viewer has the attention span of a gnat. How else to explain the numbers for AI, BB, DOND, and the like. I do watch TAR religiously, but I wouldn't consider it falling into the same category as, say, Moment of Truth.

Personally, I prefer quality over quantity. I've resigned myself to the fact I'm going to find some interesting shows each year, support them, hope that the story can be wrapped up before the suits pull the plug, then move on to the next. I blame Fear Factor. They were the first pebble to crumble off the edge of that slippery slope we find ourselves careening down. A world where the Ben Silvermans don't get let go, they're promoted and given boat-loads of cash. Crazy.

I can NOT believe 12 million people watched Raisin. It was HORRIBLE. Diddy can't act worth a dang. It was laughably bad.

Given what it supposedly costs to make I can't see Terminator coming back in the fall, which is a shame. Shows that require people to think to follow the story rarely do well in the ratings anymore, Lost being one of the very few exceptions. I guess America is getting dumber every year, hence the glut of lame reality shows.

Brace yourselves mooshiki and roxymarie, but Diddy said on Letterman's show that he was moving to L.A. to pursue a movie career in earnest. He was serious too. I'm not looking forward to it either. That said, I sort of agree with wildbill, a good portion of the U.S. public is of the opinion that when they get home they want to watch escapism and don't want to think too much or have it reflect to closely to real life so I'm afraid the Ben Silverman's of the world are going to be the norm.

I think Im the minority in this, but Raisen in the Sun was very good. It wasn't as good as the orginal with Sidney Poitier, but I still enjoyed it. They even added some stuff from the play. Phylicia Rashad was amazing in it.

I also thought it was really good. Diddy some big shoes to fill considered Sidney Poitier was in the role before, and I think he held his own. Very good acting overall!
