Ratings: ABC Dances the Night Away

This Monday's ratings recap:

Dancing with the Stars partnered up with an audience of 21.65 million across its two-hour bow, an increase of 1.65 mil over the Season 3 opener and the contest's best premiere ever. And Heather is still intact.

• Opposite DWTS and trailing Deal or No Deal at 8, Prison Break (8.26 million) was down 1.4 mil from its last fresh outing, while CBS' Mother (7.59 mil, down 1.9 mil) and Old Christine (6.86 mil, down 1.18 mil) hit season lows, with the latter also falling nearly two mil shy of The Class' last outing.

• At 9 pm, 24 (11.88 mil, -480K) topped Men (11.62 mil, slipping almost a mil) and Rules of Engagement (9.32 mil, down two mil), both of which hit season lows.

• Come 10, What About Brian (7.38 million) benefited big time from its DWTS lead-in, surging 2.6 mil to what appears to be its best outing in five months, and besting the Donnellys (5.84 mil, down 900K). CSI: Miami, of course, dominated with an audience of 17.44 million and a triple dose of Leslie Bibb.

I am not gunning for Old Christine to be cancelled, but I really hope that TPTB at CBS will finally renew The Class for another season.

I feel sorry for HIMYM adn christien- it looks like they had a hit in the numbers, but here in houston they aired at 2;30 and 3 AM- at the normal time my houston channel played to episodes of fraiser from 1996 and 1997- luckily my TIvo caught the middle of the night episodes. This happened once before too. It really affects your rating when a town the size of houston does not get your show

"Because someone will ask"... Matt, how is Donnellys doing in comparison to Studio 60?

While I have nothing against Christine, if rooting against it is the only way I can get Class back in the Fall than I have no problem with it tanking.

But to be fair, Mother and the rest of the CBS line-up took a major hit last night and Class (thankfully) never had to face off against Dancing.

I watched DWTS and taped PB. Well, I taped both, but managed to see most of DWTS. I thought everyone did pretty well. Some better than others.

Yarny -

I don't think S60 ever pulled numbers as low as this week's TBD. It probably came close, but I don't think it ever fell below 6 mill.

I can't stand it when real shows with actors and writing get slaughtered by an inane reality show full of B-level stars.

1.65 million Americans have gotten stupider since last fall? That's alarming.

ROTFL re: TBD! I'm sorry, but I've never been so happy to see a show's ratings plummet! If this had somehow become a hit with the general public, it would have been a sad day for America, and I have so much faith in humankind seeing this show now be ultimately rejected. With its cancellation comes the almost sure news that Friday Night Lights will be renewed (and hopefully take over its time slot). Hooray for quality TV!

Comparing The Black Donnellys and Studio 60 is like comparing Elanore Roosevelt to Martha Washington, they're both dead.

But yes, Studio 60's numbers are overall better, but it doesn't matter.

Well put and very funny! I doubt that NBC is going to put that stinker back on the air just because something else stunk even more.

I'd love to see The Class instead of Rules of Engagement any day. I just can't warm up to Rules at all. I wish they would renew Class and dump Rules for next year.
