Radcliffe On Board for Final Two Potter Pics
Daniel Radcliffe — currently netting rave reviews for his performance in the raw across the pond in Peter Shaffer's Equus — has signed on the dotted line for the final two of the seven Harry Potter films, Reuters reports.
With Order of the Phoenix due out later this year, Radcliffe and Co. will step before the cameras for Half-blood Prince in September. A timetable for the series' ender, Deathly Hallows (in bookstores July 21), has yet to be determined.

I'm glad. I love the books and the movies and am willing to ignore the fact that the kids are a few years too old because they do great jobs in the roles.

I don't know why everyone complains about the kids being too old. At the rate they're making these movies they'll probably only be about 19 or 20 when they film the last one. That's not that big a stretch from the 17-year-olds they'll be playing--especially considering that "kids" on tv shows like The O.C. and One Tree Hill are all usually around 25.

I'm not willing to ignore it, but I'm not willing to get upset about it either.
I will say that after seeing Daniel Radcliffe in Extras earlier this year, it will be hard to ever take him seriously again. Who knew he could be so funny?
"Oh, hi mum. She's trying to give me fags!"
Priceless.

This is good news. Anyone else in the role would just seem odd after five films with Radcliffe.

I'm glad he'll be doing the last two films. I wonder about Emma and Rupert.

What's freaking me out is how can he continue to be a cuddly wizard looking this hot? I can't believe I just said Harry Potter was hot... oy. I'm going to jail.

Raven, fortunately for all of us you can still say somebody is hot without risking a prison sentence. But check in another six months, that might change.
I say pish-posh to the age thing. Directors always look for older stars who look younger because they are easier to deal with. Michael J. Fox made a career (and a brilliant one) out of it!!

Raven, that is hilarious that you just said that.
Now here's the interesting question: would it have been as funny if Matt had said the same thing about Emma? Or would he, really and truly, actually be going to jail? (or at least no longer working for TV Guide?)
Double standards are fun.

Wow what does nolan have against Matt. Every time I see a comment he's being scathing. Matt has gotten me ticked once or twice, but considering I've probably read upwards of 1000 bits of his I don't think it is a big deal. I don't even like what I say some days, so why should I expect another human to please me more.

Excuse me, what? I have nothing against Matt. (well, other than his disconcerting tendency to make fun of the dead, but we all have our vices)
The above post was honest hypothetical food-for-thought, you know, just for fun, and I could have substituted any other guy's name in there. I put Matt in because, you know, he's the host of this thing, and thus the default alpha male in here.
Pretty please, put the claws away, felinefan. Ain't nothin' but love here.

Seriously Matt, what about Emma and Rupert? Does "Radcliff & Co." mean them too? I read that Emma was on the fence about doing number 6, so I am anxious to hear her decision and if she also signed on for number 7.

Daniel Radcliffe, AKA; Harry Potter, will be at most 19 when he films #7. Since Hogwarts is a seven year school, Harry should be 18 when he graduates. Emma Watson is even younger and Rupert Grint is just a smidge older. No real problem with continuity that I can see.

I'm thrilled that Daniel will be Harry for all of the movies, like Rod said anyone else would be weird.
And like others have asked, what about the rest of the main cast? Any word if they've resigned for the rest? It's bad enough we had to have a new Dumbledore, I'd like to see the rest of the cast remain the same.

It seems that the only time a cast memeber has been replaced was due to the actor passing away, Richard Harris. And his replacement has been superb in the role.
I'm a little worried though about Maggie Smith and Robbie Coltrane. Smith due to her advanced age, and Coltrane to his obesity and smoking. I'd be very surprised if a heart attack, lung cancer, and/or diabetes aren't in his future.
I really cannot see anyone else playing Hagrid though.
