Psych Exclusive: Steven Weber Says "Uncle"

080609stevenweber.jpg
Steven Weber by Mathew Imaging/WireImage.com
Steven Weber is spending his downtime from wooing Brothers & Sisters' Sarah with a visit to USA Network's Psych. The vet of such series as Wings and Studio 60 will appear in a mid-August episode playing Henry's brother, and thus Shawn's uncle.

Oh, but not just any visiting relative. Weber's Uncle Jack hits town claiming he has a map to hidden Spanish treasure. A race to beat raiders to the loot ensues, with James Roday presumably doing his best Shia LaBeouf.

Weber's casting marks the latest expansion of Shawn's fam — Cybill Shepherd previously was announced as playing the lad's mother, in two episodes starting with the July 18 season opener. — Matt Mitovich

We've seen most of Gus' family. Now we get Shawn's. when will we meet the O'Hara's or better yet... the Lassiters!

We met some of the O'Hara's at Christmas. Lassie was invited out of pity to Jules' family get-together.

We met some of the O'Hara clan already when Lassie went over there for a holiday. I think it was the special Christmas episode this past winter.

Hmm . . . Steven Weber has the temperament and basic good looks of anybody that looks and/or acts like they're related to James Roday and/or Shawn Spencer (the difference may be irrelevant, but nevertheless . . .). So I'm just going to wonder out loud -- did Shawn's mother have an affair with Uncle Jack?

Me likee the idea as, frankly, the Roday-diator looks nothing like Corbin Bernsen. Also, with all the great casting happening for Psych, I'd like to see the return of the real Mrs. Corbin Bernsen (Max Headroom's Amanda Pays) as Dad Spencer's girlfriend.

This is great casting news. Though I'm with the others, that we really need to see Lassie's parents and his ex-wife.

James Roday presumably doing his best Shia LaBeouf.

However, J.R.s' overacting is on purpose....
(and with this show, that's a good thing!):)

Oh please tell me when you say he's using his downtime from wooing Sarah on B&S that Steven's gonna be back on that show? The way they wrote it I was a bit concerned and had been really enjoying him as Finch. I figured he was committed to Zip or something. Is that show dead?

Looking forward to it. Never watched Wings, but he's been great on Studio 60 and B&S as of late.

In my dream-world, Lassiter's dad is played by "Tackleberry" from the Police Academy movies...

I think that this show is really well done and I can't wait to see it return!

He was also great when he guested on Monk a while back. Love Steven Weber, used to watch him in Wings reruns all the time-with Tony Shaloub :)

Side note: amanda82977-that would be hilarious except for the fact that David Graf (Tackleberry) passed away in 2001 of a heart attack (he was related to one of my teachers). Great guy and actor-it's cool that people still think of him for roles!

amanda82977, that is an awesome idea. I would love to see that.

I am even more anxious for Psych to start, as I've been a Steven Weber fan since he was on As the World Turns.

I do have one question, though; with two blonde parents, just where did Shawn get his brown hair? Brown-haired parents can have blonde children, but unless I'm mis-remembering my high school biology, it doesn't work so much the other way.
