Real World Creators May Sew Up Deal for Next Runway

Will next season's Project Runway bring hot tubs, cat-fights and half-naked dance parties? If Real World producers Bunim-Murray close the deal to take on the show, it could. Admittedly, it's tough to picture Tim Gunn looking fiercely happy about a hot tub, but at the very least, the show could have a decidedly new vibe.

According to Variety, the show's original producers are tied up with a production deal for NBC. Now that Runway's moving to Lifetime for Season 6, it needs a new team.

With 21 years of the Real World under its belt, not to mention Living Lohan and Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bunim-Murray's a veteran of the reality genre. The series already promises to have a new look and feel when it says auf wiedersehen to Bravo, but how will the new producers design the show? — Anna Dimond

Oh brother. One of the drawing factors for me with Project Runway has been its lack of smut. If it goes the way of Real World, I'll be checking out.

Ugh! Imagine if we'd had to see Austin or Jay or Wendy Pepper or Santino chilling in a hot tub? If they do take it over, they'd better noit mess with it. Aside from The Amazing Race, this is one reality show that doesn't need any fixing up. It's about the competition.

I agree completely. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why are they trying to fix something that isn't broken? The reason I watch Project Runway is because it's NOT the Real World, Living Lohan, or Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I already had a terrible sense of foreboding about this show moving to Lifetime. Bringing in the producers of these shows to produce Project Runway does not make me feel any better.

It might be worth mentioning that Mary-Ellis Bunim died four years ago.

It's hard to tell from the way she's smiling in that photo.

Chappy thanks for your comment. I though she passed away from Breat Cancer some time ago. But then when they said both would be producing I thought I was wrong. Ladies remeber to check the girls regulary.

Why does it need a new look and feel when the one it has now is so extremely successful? I agree with the person who said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" I will also note that I was a loyal Real World, Road Ruler up until Ms. Mary Ellis-Bunim's unfortunate passing. After she died, they obliterated her vision for her series eliminating all estrogen and heightening the testosterone. Ugh! I hope that Jon Murray does not destroy PR!!!! I also hope they honor our demographic instead of pandering to the young and male group that doesn't watch Lifetime (but watches MTV).

If they change the show I have a feeling they will be sorry. The great thing about Project Runway, Top Chef and Sheer Genius is the fact that there are no hot tubs, people getting wasted all the time, hook ups, etc. The shows are great just because the talent is so good - they don't need all the over the top trash!

im dreading project runways move to lifetime, especially with all this talk of changing it

project runways is such a huge success because it it unlike anything else on tv, it a reality show thats actually about the competition, not that annoying drama.

Count this viewer out if they go the way of TRASH! I'm with, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Still cannot believe it is moving to the over the top drama network, Lifetime.

you know I wasn't worried about the move to Lifetime, until I started to hear about 'changing the look' and other little things.

Project Runway is AWESOME as it IS.

It doesn't need shaking up. It doesn't need a new look. Lifetime wants it to do well -- don't mess with it.
