Prison's Break May Be Cut Short
Due to its swelling ratings — and just as likely because Fox has precious little mid-season programming waiting in the wings — there is talk that Prison Break might return from its winter hiatus much earlier than expected. The serialized thriller, set to air its "fall finale" on Nov. 27, was going to be MIA until March of next year, but a source now tells TVGuide.com that it could return as soon as late January. The emphasis being on could, seeing as Prison Break isn't very far ahead at all in production. Indeed, when I asked the lovely Sarah Wayne Callies about this scheduling shift on Thursday afternoon, she quipped, "They may have to start filming [the episodes] live, then, because we're pretty close to the wire!"
I'll have much more from Dr. Sara's portrayer in Monday's Interviews & Features.

As nice it sounds to get one of my favorite shows back early, this will just cause Fox to have slots to fill in April/May. Plus, that would make the wait for season 3 that much longer, and since I'm sure they'll end this season with a doozy of a cliffhanger, I know nobody wants that. Maybe they should create a spin-off to air during the breaks. I would watch The Fabulous Adventures of Haywire, wouldn't you?

Ugh -- I have a feeling that no matter what they do people will be unhappy. Keep PB off the air until March and you'll tick off fans. Bring it back early and then sprinkle in a good helping of reruns and you'll tick off fans. Bring it back in January and burn off the rest of the season by March and you'll tick off fans who won't want to wait 6 months to see their show return.
Personally, I don't care... I'll enjoy it no matter how they present it to us.

Well said, LadyK. We cannot fault the networks for trying to give fans at least a little bit of what they want, when all is out of the question, pragmatically.
Be sure to check out my full Q&A with Sarah on Monday, where we talk about what a "live" Prison Break episode would be like. Also: a scary story involving her stunt double, and our assorted ideas about the setting for Season 3.

Phew, your headline scared me for a second. I read "Prison Break's" instead of "Prison's break" and was worried about a cancellation notice or something...
Eh, now, later, don't really care when it returns as long as we get to see it one way or another.

I hope you asked her how Sara managed to not get electrocuted when Kellerman put an iron in the water with her. And how she gets away from this latest situation. Thanks.

When PB returned from hiatus in March of this year, I think it ran uninterrupted along with 24 till the finale. So I guess if it comes back in January, they'll just be weeks where it's either not on or it's a repeat. But you know what would be the best? If Fox ordered more episodes to fill it till May
Matt, you gotta ask Sarah what it's like working with the sexiest man on earth - that gorgeous specimen named Went

We touch on that, yeah, namely, "How long can you hold your breath underwater?"

Of course you saw my Season 1 finale Q&A with Sarah, which featured much Went Worship, but his name comes up a few times in our latest convo, yes. Referring to their seperate story lines this season, I believe she said, "I missed my Went!"

I too would watch The Fabulous Adventures of Haywire. . .or Te Amo, Maricruz. . .or The One-Armed Man. Just some ideas, Fox.

With so many serialized shows taking breaks (Lost, Jericho) or in ratings trouble (The Nine), I think bringing PB back early is a great idea. When the show is finished, FOX could easily put re-runs of the previous weeks 24, which would be great for those who want to catch up or see it again.

Phew ... I actually thought that Prison Break was heading off the air as w the rest of my fave shows. Please don't scare me like that.
As long as the show can stay on the air (for as long as the powers that be wish) I will be there, in front of the TV, watching my favorite gang of escapees running for their lives.
I can't wait to read your interview w Sarah, but is there anyway to read your old 1? From Season 1 that is (you mentioned it earlier)? Thanks.
Keep running guys.

I am all for additional episodes! There could be another March 2 hour ep of 24 so a few more PBs would help a lot. Personally, I don't mind a few pre-empts. There is always plenty on the tivo. 24 repeats never work. The low ratings always happen. I also wonder how much of a hit Heroes will take from Jack Bauer.
