Prison Break Spin-off Puts a Babe Behind Bars

Paris Hilton, call your agent. Fox has ordered a script for a distaff Prison Break called Prison Break: Cherry Hill (yes, really). Penned by PB exec producers Matt Olmstead and Zac Estrin, the spin-off would focus on Molly, an as-yet-uncast character to be introduced this season on the mother ship. According to the Reporter, having suffered a family tragedy at the hands of The Company, upper-middle-class housewife Molly will seek out Michael at Sona for tips on exacting revenge. Ultimately, Molly is locked up for a life sentence only to learn that her "dead" loved ones are in fact alive. Cue escape plan. (The truly scary thing? One of her cell mates is nicknamed T-Bag.)

If Cherry Hill doesn't gain any traction, Molly would continue on as a Prison Break character, perhaps as a love interest for Michael (meaning, she shouldn't invest in any necklaces).

Aren't you supposed to spin things off of *successful* shows? Prison Break hardly counts anymore.

I am thinking that perhaps the female storyline would work within the original PB, but not the exact same thing only with a female for another series.
As loyal as I am to Prison Break, I feel like it's on the way out and I don't think the same viewers would watch a spin-off

I think the producers see the handwriting on the wall that this is the end of the line for "the mothership." This is their hare-brained attempt to keep the time slot and $$$ for themselves next season. Why not "Caveman Prison Break" if this version falls through?

WTH? Why would producers think this is a good idea? I know I'm not watching it if the original ends.

Do you mean to say that, if Molly is gonna be a hit on Prison Break does that mean it's gonna be the end of Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows?
I'm not sure if it will be a hit with the men.

The original show has wandered too far into absurdity for me to continue watching - and I tend to stick with shows until the end. Why ruin whatever good feeling is left from the stellar first season of PB with this knockoff??

I feel very bad for all the truly good actors stuck on PB now and for how their once-good show has wandered into total ridiculousness. And now we're going to get the Chicks in Prison version? Give me a break.

This is not a good idea. When I first saw the header I thought they were putting a woman in Sona on the current PB. A spin-off is not a good idea. And what is Cherry Hill? The location?

It just seems like they'll be diluting PB and in the end the original may suffer. If the spin-off doesn't work, it will reflect badly on the original.
