Who Will Play TV's Mr. & Mrs. Smith?
ABC has greenlit production on a pilot for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, an adaptation of the big-screen thriller that, in addition to its assorted cinematic merits, introduced a boy named Brad to a girl named Angie. Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg will reprise their roles as director and scribe.
Set six months after where the film left off, with the Smiths now residing in a new house in a new suburb, Kinberg likens the TV version to "Married... with Children with guns," telling the Hollywood Reporter, "It is a show about any married couple trying to balance professional and home life." Eyed for a fall 2007 slot and set to shoot in March, casting on the pilot has yet to be determined. Good luck with that.
Maybe the Today's News blog readers can help Mr. Liman out with casting, what do you say? Too bad Eric Dane is busy. (But Charisma Carpenter isn't!)

Funny. I thought of Eric Dane too. Josh Duhamel would also be good, but he's booked too. Maybe Karl Urban from LOTR. I've always thought he was a dead ringer for Brad Pitt.
As for Mrs. Smith: Rhona Mitra, Jolene Blalock, Kelly Brook, Natasha Henstridge, or Kristanna Loken (if her Sci-Fi show tanks) would be good.

Well the concept was a little different, but Mr. & Mrs. Smith didn't work 10 years ago with Scott Bakula and Maria Bello (personally I loved it, but it was cancelled in less than a season).

This sounds like a bad idea to me. And, maybe they need to get some unknowns for the leads.
But no matter who they get, unless they are unbelievably amazing, they'll be compared to Brad and Angelina so...

I agree with the Charisma casting suggestion. Mr Smith should be Sebastian Spence. How hot would they be together?

Eh the movie wasn't anything to write home about but I wouldn't rule out watching the TV show depending on who they cast and what the final pilot looks like.

I agree with Nick, I too recall the tv version from 10 years ago that was not pushed by CBS (oh boy do I have issues with them!) and cancelled. My sister and I loved it. I will say as soon as I heard about the movie I recalled the tv show.
I LOVE Dean Cain but can think of no other male leads. Perhaps I am temporarily blinded by his muscles and killer smile. Sigh... As much as I love Josh Duhmael (And I do love him, ever since AMC), I see him and I think romantic comedy not action, suspense thriller.
I love the idea of Jolene Blalock or Famke Jensen.
As far as the idea of the series itself, the writers would have to be real sharp and here's a tip: stay away from the networks - go cable!

Isn't Famke Janssen is like 12 feet tall? Actually she is 5'11". Mark Feuerstein is 5'8" according to IMDb so I hope, Marcus, that was a joke because I am laughing.
I think there are 900 actors and 1,237 actresses capable of those roles. But can you find a network that would run it for a whole year? That would be harder!
