A few more people are getting off at Exit 19, the CBS drama pilot starring Geena Davis as Gloria, a Manhattan homicide detective and single mom. According to the Reporter, Rosie Perez (Do the Right Thing) has been cast as Lorna, Gloria's Brooklyn-born partner on the police force; Ramon Rodriguez (Day Break) will play a flirty fellow cop; and Amy Farrington (recurring on Back to You) is Gloria's neighbor. — MWM

I'm sorry but Rosie Perez has THE worst voice in the world....can't stand to listen to her so this news just might put the kibosh on my watching this show when it airs...Like Geena lot, though, so maybe I can watch with the close captioning on...

Wow, this show had promise especially after the news of Matthew Lilliard being cast as Geena Davis' brother, but with the addition of Rosie Perez now, I think the show's producers just dug their own grave...

I would agree, Rosie Perez does have an annoying voice. What is it with people named Rosie having annoying voices? Rosie Perez, Rosie O'Donnell, etc. The show almost certainly went down a few million viewers with this casting, especially since she's likely to have a lot screen time in this role. I also have to feel sorry Geena Davis because of this, she deserves better.

Wow, can't believe all the hate for Rosie. Hasn't anyone seen her performance in Fearless? Maybe her voice ain't your cup-o-meat, but if she pulls off the part, why isn't that enough. Maybe your voice irritates the crap out of others, but nobody's had the proper social graces to actually tell you how annoying you are.

Oops, I forgot, we're all perfect here on the net. Silly me.

bmp956 - If her voice detracts from my enjoyment of the performance, I am certainly justified in not watching something she's in.

And I took TVGuide up on their offer to "leave a comment" - as you did - too bad, huh?

bmp956, the simple answer is because it's not. For example, I'm sure Raymond was a good comedy considering the ratings and how long it lasted, but I can't stand Ray Ramono's voice so I never watched. I don't hate Rosie Perez the person, just her voice.

I've never been told that, but even if it does so what? Are you saying people should be forced to listen to things that annoy them?

No. I just don't understand why you wouldn't give a show a chance because of what seems to me to be a pretty insignificant reason. It's not like it's "The Nanny", where the Queen of Nasal Voices was pretty much the whole show. I don't think Rosie's expected to carry this thing. Maybe after giving it a try a simple press of the mute button and CC will allow a balanced critique of the show. How can you judge something without experiencing it?

Yea, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, even me. Just thought someone who appreciates her craft should jump in to defend her. Far be it from me to tell other viewers what they should enjoy. Personally, I'll never get the attraction to AI, DOND, and the like.
