Pilot News: Could Matthew Perry Be More Excited?

Matthew Perry and veteran producer Peter Tolan (Rescue Me, The Larry Sanders Show) are teaming to produce The End of Steve, a Showtime pilot in which TV's onetime Friend will star.

As reported by Variety, Perry will play the host of a local talk show who, thoroughly embittered whenever the cameras are off, strives to find professional and personal happiness — including but not limited to romance with the station's morning show host.

Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt, who has been trying to develop a project with Tolan for two decades, calls this opportunity "a twisted match made in heaven." — Matt Mitovich

Excellent! Ever since Studio 60 got the ax, I've been waiting for Matthew Perry to reappear. This sounds perfect for him! Hmmmmm...I just might have to subscribe to Showtime...

I love this idea and Perry. Hey, speaking of Studio 60 I would love to see Bradley Whitford find something as well, I think he was outstanding in West Wing and Studio 60.

Seriously, I was just thinking this AM that I should drop HBO and pick up Showtime.
I love the idea of MP getting back to work on a series. Hope it's as great for him, as it will be for us. He seems to effortlessly deliver credible & spot on characters & performances. I must admit, MP's Studio 60 character was my series favorite, as yet, and I do have a copy in my DVD collection.
Mention of MP also causes me to reflect on how under-explored Ted Danson's acting skills & potential were. I was truly astounded by TD's all out, full blown, outstanding character presentation and performances in Season One of Damages as Arthur Frobisher.
Matthew Perry's professional potential & talent are still unknown, and under-explored, also.
I'll be watching for MP / The End of Steve. I do so love to be completely & thoroughly entertained.

Oh Rob, that was just... CRUEL! LOL! I've let Gilmore Girls go... in my own little world, Gilmore Girls ended when Lorelai asked Luke to marry her.

Awesome news! I was also disappointed when Studio 60 was cancelled and since MP was my favorite Friend (loyal fan from the pilot until the end), this is wonderful news to hear. And another reason to keep Showtime on our cable tier.......

LOVE HIM! :-x:-x:-x:-x:-x:-x So happy to see he's back in the eye; just sorry I don't have a tv, not that I'd pay the outrageous prices for 'premium' cable. LOVE YOU MATTHEW!

Forget Lauren Graham! Has anybody contacted ME about being the co-host?

Mmmmm....LOVE Matthew Perry!

When Friends was on my 2 year old daughter was asked, "And does your mommy love your daddy?" and my daughter said, "No. Mommy loves Matthew Perry!" HAHAHAHAHA!

Side Note: Her father and I are still married, but Matthew Perry is my one gimmie. ;)
