Justin Hartley by L. Cohen/WireImage.com
Recurring Smallville superfriend/onetime Aquaman spinoff candidate Justin Hartley has landed a lead role in the CW pilot Austin Golden Hour. The real-time medical drama from American Idol producer Simon Fuller follows a team of emergency room surgeons and emergency medical technicians, none of whom wear green leather. — MWM

If it's a CW/Justin Hartley pairing, I'd much rather have Aquaman. Releasing that pilot and then never picking it up was just the worst tease EVER.

I like Hartley, but this show sounds destined to fail. Next thing you know the CW will be using budget excuses for canceling the show. :(

Give him something better!

Of course, you know what the acronym for this show will be: AGH. AGH!! :^O
I don't know; it just cracks me up.

Well congrats to Justin. Hopefully it'll be a good show.

Still, my dream project would be Mr and Mrs Hartley together. :-D

I wasn't too impressed with the Aquaman pilot but Hartley is a great find (we can thank Passions for that) and should be put in something stat. He has such charm and charisma and would make a great leading man in anything.

I fear he's going to be one of those great actors who gets bounced around from different failing projects before he finally lands on one that sticks. This sounds like failed project #2.

It's good news for Hartley, but I really wanted to see him cast as the lead in another CW pilot, "Wrecking Ball." He seems perfect for the lead in that show. *Sigh.*
