Elisha Cuthbert (24) has landed the female lead in NY-LON, a CBS drama pilot based on a British series that starred Rashida Jones and Stephen Moyer. The premise: A New York City teacher/record-store clerk embarks on a cross-continental romance with a London stockbroker. (Get it — NY-LON? Took me a minute, too.)

Also cast in the pilot, says the Reporter, are Caterina Scorsone (1-800-MISSING) and Johnny Whitworth (CSI: Miami), playing Cuthbert's roommate and ex-boyfriend, respectively. — MWM

CBS....can "bite me". I will never watch that network again, since they took Jericho off.

Eh. I'll pass.

I'm just commenting on that pic up of Elisha. I didn't even recognize her!

Please, please, please let her get caught in a cougar trap in this show too!

This sounds like a snoozefest. I'm surprised Elisha Cuthbert couldn't get better work then this.

I would much much much rather have seen Rashida Jones and Moyer reprise their excellent roles from the British version and bring some closure to that storyline. They had great chemistry and that version was incredibly well done. Ny-Lon was a fantastic but way too short lived BBC America series and ended suddenly in a way that was completely unsatisfactory to me.

Elisha turned me off in 24, especially being so hateful to papa Jack when he was honestly trying to make amends. Not going to watch this with her.

Prediction: Major flop/bomb of a TV show.

Umm, you do realize she was playing a character, right? I sure hope you get that 24 is not a documentary, 'cause I'm kinda worried for ya.

bmp956: You beat me to it. I was going to say the exact same thing. People are strange huh?

But I do agree with most a say that this will probably be a snooze fest.

bmp and kelkel: Of course I realize that Kim was just a character on 24. I simply never cared for her as such or Elisha as an actress. No need to snarky and rude.

Forgive me for commenting and simply stating my honest opinion on something here. Not to worry - it won't ever happen again.

I'm still upset about Jericho being cancelled to even think of trying to watch a new show on CBS.

bmp956, don't be afraid to voice your opinion. It's a free country.

I don't think I will watch this, as Ms. Cuthbert hasn't impressed me as an actress on anything that she's done. I too agree with kiraalt that the original cast should have reprised their roles, if possible. Contrary to Ms. Cuthbert, Rashida Jones is a very talented actress who deserves a show of her own.

Unless TV critics rave about NY-LON, I'll be staying away from the show.

kiraalt, wasn't trying to be snarky or rude, it's just that your post reminded me of stories of soap stars having epithets hurled at them on the street because they played their bad-guy parts so well that hard core viewers had a hard time distinguishing fact from fiction.

I see now that wasn't your intent, but I'm sure if you read your own original post with an objective eye you'd see why I got that impression. Just sayin'.

As for Ms. Cuthbert, sure, she's no Meryl Streep. Maybe she just hasn't had the right parts to play, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Anything that isn't Reality TV, count me in.
