Pilot News: Cole and Tambor in for Good Behavior

Gary Cole, most recently spied as Dana Delany's hubby/tormenter on Housewives, has signed on to costar on the ABC pilot Good Behavior.

In the drama about a family of criminals struggling to go straight, Cole will play the patriarch, freshly sentenced to a nickel in the clink. Jeffrey Tambor (of The Ropers fame) will guest-star as the pawn shop partner of the brood's matriarch, played by Catherine O'Hara. — MWM

Jeffrey Tambor and Catherine O'Hara are two of the funniest actors around. Is this really a drama? Interesting...

"...of The Ropers fame..."

Ooo, nice burn, Matt! Ha ha! I'm sure you didn't mean it that way (well, not THAT sure) ;), but after those two horrible sitcoms he did after Arrested Development, he doesn't deserve to be cited for the superlative AD!

Hopefully, this one will be better. I love Catherine O'Hara and Gary Cole, and yes, give the right script, Tambor, too. I'm rooting for this pilot! :)

And Paul, I share your interest. Tambor, O'Hara and Cole have all shown themselves to have great comedic timing in dramatic moments and vice versa!

So I'm sure it's safe to assume that Welcome to the Captain is toast? Between that show and Twenty Good Years with John Lithgow, he hasn't had much sitcom luck lately. :(

I have to confess, I liked the theme song from The Ropers (and the sight of Norman Fell dancing with a toilet plunger).

And I always liked Patty McCormack (aka The Bad Seed).

And I liked.....nope. I'm out.

Lalalalalalalalalalalalala!

Matt 'n' Chappy, out of my high respect for you both, I'm forgetting you said that! (Preemptively, same goes for Mr. Furley!)

...lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaaaaaaugh!

(I liked...the sight of Norman Fell dancing with a toilet plunger).

Isn't that the second most imitated behind Tom Cruise in Risky Business??
(and at least Norman had his pants on!!!):OGord-I've said it before-I liked the Ropers as supporting characters, but despised them as headliners!!! (You know that show was doomed when it had the Jump-the-Shark cute bowlcut moppet cousin Oliver in the pilot!!!)

Love the cast-It will be a tough job to ruin that line-up, but it looks like they are off to a good start if they are going to call it a Drama.

Yes, I know your feelings about The Ropers, Mr. F. I just had a premonition that you were lurking and I had to bring you out of the woodwork. ;)

As a kid, I adored "The Ropers," but to me, Tambor will forever be Hank Kingsley, one of the most hatable yet pitiable characters on TV, second only to Louie DePalma.

This is the most interesting casting/premise of any of the fall shows. It also sounds like an original idea. Looking forward to this. Love Gary Cole, Catherine O'Hara and Hank Kingsley. (At least give him a Larry Sanders reference Matt!)

Oh pleasepleaseplease let this show work! Other than Night Caller, which lasted 3 seasons, every show Cole has done hasn't gone beyond 1. I really liked the FBI one he had a few years ago on TNT, which just....ended.

Gotta have me some Cole. :-p
