PETA Names Worst-dressed Celebs

Here's one title for which (Queen of Soul, please don't cut me) Aretha Franklin probably wasn't lobbying. She won an online poll that named PETA's list of worst-dressed celebrities, based on her penchant for draping her larger-than-life frame with "vulgar fur," as the list says she did at this year's Grammy Awards. "How about some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for animals?" the animal-rights organization predictably asks.

Using stomach-churning imagery and bad puns, PETA also singles out shock rocker Marilyn Manson, who they criticize for wearing leather pants 24/7, "only peeling the smelly things off to have sex." (Ew. Forget the leather — who wants to think about little Brian Warner having S-E-X?) They advise actress Lindsay Lohan, perhaps more famous today for not wearing anything, that "there's no road to recovery for the foxes who are anally electrocuted so that you can look skanky." Kylie Minogue is compared to the pythons who gave their lives for her purse — they're both cold-blooded, you see — and is reminded that "it's not cool to clutch an accessory made by nailing snakes to a tree and skinning them alive."

Getting off relatively easy are Eva Longoria and Kate Moss, whose only sin is their promiscuity, apparently. (Longoria is referred to as "the streetwalker of Wisteria Lane," while supermodel Kate Moss is called a "super tramp.")

In a statement, PETA's Sexiest Vegetarian Alive*, Michael Ausiello, said: "Mickey O'Connor is a bacon-eater, which is made up from pigs, who have been killed, and his brains are scrambled. Like eggs. Get it? Bacon and eggs?" — Mickey O'Connor

Let's try this again, an error prevented my first attempt from being posted...

I don't understand, are Eva and Kate being called out for anything related to animals? Or is PETA just going down the name-calling path again? PETA continues to shoot itself in the foot by diverting attention away from its honorable mission when using these sorts of tactics.

So where's Beyonce on this list? Britney Spears? Mary J. Blige? They're always buried in the furry stuff. Leave it on the animals, please!
