The People's Choice Awards: Oh, the Pain....

Maybe the Globes are onto something by sucking it up and going with a simple hour-long press conference? Similarly struck by the strike, Tuesday night's extremely strange and borderline unwatchable People's Choice Awards — in which host Queen Latifah had the unenviable task of reading the winner from what looked like a Franklin Planner, then throwing it to a pre-taped acceptance speech — gave props to a trio of Grey's Anatomy stars (Patrick Dempsey, Katherine Heigl and Chandra Wilson), House (named favorite TV drama) and Two and a Half Men (fave comedy). Other winners on the TV front included talk host Ellen DeGeneres, Dancing with the Stars (reality show), Deal or No Deal (game show), Stargate Atlantis (sci-fi fare) and The Simpsons (non-human programming).

Well the show was not good, but at least we got to see the beautiful, talented Alex O'loughlin give a great acceptance speech for winning Best New Drama...MOONLIGHT. Way to go moonlight you deserve it, and Alex, what can I say, you are so adorable its no wonder the fans love you so.

Two things the People's Choice Awards made me grateful for: 1) that the batteries in my remote worked so I could find something else before my eyes bled; and 2) that because of the train wreck that was the People's Choice Awards, I am pleased that they won't desecrate the Golden Globes with recreating the same poorly planned and very uncomfortable award show that was on last night.

CHEERS FOR MOONLIGHT! The PEOPLE have spoken and we LOVE this show! Alex is incredible and ALSO gave a wonderful acceptance speech, which could not have been done too long ago, since we were voting up to the day it aired!
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MOONIGHT

The best part of the award show was when they went to commercial.
CBS should have played a repeat of Cane.

CONGRATULATIONS to Moonlight!! Alex looked gorgeous as always and he was so adorable. Congratulating the other 2 shows was SUPER classy of him too. What a terrific actor and person he is.

Sure, the show was boring for the most part, but seeing Alex and Moonlight win last night made the 2 hours bearable for me!!

Well I hated the program format BUT It was SO worth it to see Moonlight take the *Best New Drama*, and Alex O'Laughlin do the acceptance! Moonlights ROCKS!

Congratulations to Moonlight for Best New Drama! The only highlight of the show was watching Alex O'Loughlin accept the award with the Austrailian Sea and sky as a backdrop!

First, I want to give props to Queen Latifah for her attempts to try and make the most uneventful "People's Choice Awards" show in history somewhat watchable. However, I am sure she felt awkward being a room by herself and talking to a camera for two hours. What made it worse was that they kept showing clips from previous People's Choice Awards shows. That just reinforced the fact that there was not an audience this year! I tried to watch for about 15 minutes to support Queen Latifah but eventually just gave up and switched the channel. My stance is that as long as the strike is going on and the actors aren't willing to cross the picket lines they just shouldn't have awards shows. It just plain awkard and makes everybody involved look silly. Plus, we the general public aren't going to watch whatever it is they happen to formulate and put on the air.

I think you've given short shrift to what WE THE PEOPLE want. It seems to me, I'm just a viewer however, that you continually discuss the same shows as being acceptable to you. The People's Choice Awards should help bring to your attention the shows that you have written off and don't pay attention to or mention that THE PEOPLE love! There is a HUGE fan base for "Moonlight" as pointed out in it being named the Best New Drama. Along with the huge fan base for the entire show, the fan base for it's four stars is incredieble! These are rabid fans! And these rabid fans speak up. We want more of "Moonlight"!!!
Whether or not we get our new episodes and season of "Moonlight" is out of our hands, we are doing our best, as the viewers, to be extremely vocal in letting CBS know of our desires. With or without more "Moonlight" you can be assured that Alex O'Laughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring, and Shannyn Sossamon will be around for a long time ,and will be bringing huge followings to the projects they appear in. It seems silly of CBS to not cash in on this growing following. Making new episodes and giving a second season to "Moonlight" will bring more and more viewers to Friday nights, and bring the ultimate reward to CBS: advertisers.

I only saw the last 30min, and what I saw was dreadfull, I felt sorry for Queen Latifah, she was trying her best. The way favorite TV Drama was named was by showing previous winners! what was up with that. I guess Hugh Laurie is in the UK while the strike is on, but could they not have gotten anybody from the House cast to do a acceptance speech?
If the GG thing is going to be anything like that, well I wont be wasting my time watching any of it.

I really love Latifa and admire her even more after she had to host the train wreck which was the People's Choice Awards. The format of the show was far beyond merely awful, it was downright excruciating to behold.

The one thing that made it worse, however, was Latifa having to scream, sing or squeal after announcing the winner's name each time. I'm sure the producers wanted her to do that, but it was painful after the initial squee.

The only good thing about the PCAs? A preview of an upcoming "SVU" episode, in which there was a great moment for Richard Belzer, who unfortunately lost to Chandra Wilson as "Best Scene Stealer."

Since the People's Choice Awards is one of those fake "awards" shows where the winners are notified in advance that they've won (like the American Music Awards), I never expect much from it. I don't know anyone who could have done a better job--under the circumstances--than Queen Latifah, but as others have said, I was at home cringing on her behalf.

Congratulations to Moonlight for winning Best New Drama at the People's Choice Awards. I can't think of a more deserving series to win this honor.

Alex O'Loughlin was delightful as he made his acceptance speech, with a truly genuine response, which can't have been easy, considering the format of this year's show.

Here's hoping that Les Moonves sees how popular this show is with the public and decides to make a second season for Moonlight official. It would warm the hearts of all the fans in the Moonlight Faniverse.
