Paris' Jail Stay May Free Us from More Simple Life

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie in The Simple Life Goes to Camp by Brandon Hickman/E! Entertainment

Paris Hilton's overexposed... time behind bars didn't just take its toll on the heiress' day-to-day managing of her corporate empire, but it also crippled the ratings for The Simple Life, which this season presented Par and Nicole as camp(y) counselors. "We all thought the publicity would help the show; we were wrong. It's not doing well," TV Week quotes E! CEO ("CE!O"?) Ted Harbert as saying at a TCA function.

Harbert explained that people watched Simple Life to see what Paris was really like, but no longer need the show to do that. As such, "I'm not sure we're going to do any more [seasons]. It's a 50-50 chance," he shared. "In fact, you can say it's 51-49 against."

I am glad that her show is suffering. Between her jail time and Nicole Richie's (many) problems, I am surprised The Simple Life is getting any viewers at all. They are not good role models, they are not good people, and they do not deserve any more publicity than they have already received.

How wonderful it would be to have that show off the air!! It would also be great if the public stopped pandering after all things Paris so we could watch her fade into oblivion! Does America really care about her, or is it just the paparazzi?

I think Paris Hilton is a joke. i wouldn't watch anything she is in. She can't act on screen. She is a good phony off screen
