Paris Hilton's Inheritance Snipped to "Just" $5 Million?
Paris Hilton by Jeff Vespa/WireImage.com
Paris Hilton's grandpapa, Barron Hilton (love the name, very DSM), reiterated on Wednesday that per the terms of a new will, 97 percent of his estimated $2.3 billion net worth is being left to charity, namely the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation (which funds clean water in Africa, education for blind kids and housing for the mentally ill). As a result, Paris herself might ultimately reap in the neighborhood of $5 million, says the New York Daily News, versus the $100 mil she might have otherwise pocketed.
Will the will hold water? "Some [family members] could be likely to contest the will," a friend of the clan tells the News. If so, "It'll be in the courts longer than [the similar case of] Anna Nicole Smith versus J. Howard Marshall."

It would be very unfortunate if his greedy family contested a will that is meant to provide much needed charity to people genuinely in need.

Actually, lovejackbauer, it would be a case of history repeating itself if the will was contested. That's what Barron Hilton did with his father's will, which also left almost everything to this same foundation and other charities. I would not be at all surprised if this will was contested.

As much as I loathe Paris Hilton I think it's rather insane to leave 97% of your estate to charity and 3% to your family. Blood is thicker than water and this old geezer while doing good for charity which everyone should do should think about his family too. They let Paris be raised to be the idiot she is so now it's their responsibility in a way to see that she can survive. I just think these old rich people get crazy in their old age and start getting these wierd power trips. 2 Billion to Charity and 5M to your own flesh and blood, sorry, that seems woefully out of balance to me. Plus how does he know that these charitable orgs won't rob him blind. Seems like putting all your eggs in one basket to me. I don't know. If I were the family I would definitely contest just to tie the money up forever and I'd tell him that. I'd say if you don't leave us a respectable amount of money we'll make sure it's tied up forever so no one can use it. He's being a bastard so they should be too. If he truly wants the charities he wants to help to be helped then he'll pony up some money to his family and create an acceptable will that everyone can live with

If he wants the charities to receive so much, why doesn't he donate money to them now so they can be using it now, rather than after he dies?

Maybe Paris will have to stop buying outfits for her dogs. The HORROR!
aramena ~ That is a very good question!
What a reality show that would be ~ Paris having to live on an average person's salary and paying all the same bills that we pay.

Good for him! I see nothing wrong with it and considering that Paris and other Hilton family members are also making their own millions its not like anyone will have to go without. Barron earned the money and can donate it any where he wants. $3 million (on top of Paris's own reported personal millionnaire status) is nothing to sneeze at.

Actually Sonnet53 from what I understand, part of his reasons for giving his fortune to charity is due to the embarrassing antics of Paris. He feels she has soiled the Hilton name.
He has every right to do whatever he wants with his wealth. And I imagine every person helped by his fortune needs and appreciates it more than Paris ever would. If she can't get through life with a measly $5 million, let her get a job or two to support herself like those of us in the real world do.

Only in the self-serving, greedy cesspool that this once-great nation has turned into in recent years would leaving one's fortune to charitable organizations and "only" five million to one's family - check that, one MEMBER of one's family - be considered the act of "a bastard".
Funny, Warren Buffett is leaving far, FAR more of his fortune to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and I don't see ANY of his children or grandchildren whining about it. Maybe because they aren't overly-indulged worthless pieces of human garbage who contribute absolutely ZERO to society? The best thing that could EVER happen to poor, poor Paris is having to get a job.

Paris earns something in excess of a million dollars a month. Paris had a book, and CD that may have bombed, but she now has a clothing line, and did have a perfume...she also has another movie coming out, and gets paid just to show up at nightclubs. Even if she received the 100 million from her Grandfather, she will probably earn more money than that over the next 10 years. By the time she retires from her bad girl lifestyle, she will hopefully amass a fortune of her own...anyway, she only seems to date guys from wealthy families. This nonsense will not effect Paris in the tiniest bit. Paris Hilton is a brand name itself, and the only reason she would consider being part of contesting the will would be to keep her name in the news...this is almost a non-story, except maybe her Grandfather wanted to help Paris keep her name in the new, so she could earn more money...it is just silly...My only question, what brand of bottled water does the old guy provide the people in Africa? Hopefully it is not that cheep, plastic tasting, store brand named water.

Sorry, Sonnet53, but IMHO, the old man has the right to do whatever he wants with his money. Being family does not entitle one to an inheritance.
Grandpa did set Paris' dad up in a lucrative real estate business so that he could earn his own fortune. And he is leaving Paris 5 million, which 99.99% of the world would more than likely be happy if someone gave that to them. So poor Paris will either have to earn her own money, or wait until daddy croaks to get a big inheritance. Or she'll have to learn to survive on a measly $5 million.
I say good for Grandpa for giving the bulk of his money to people who truly need it.

You know, I was going to respond and say what a spoiled, uncharitable brat you are for posting your little "blood is thicker than water" post but then I realised that with that horribly punctuated sentence that you aren't exactly sharp.
The charity he is leaving his money to is HIS OWN FAMILY charity..."namely the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation."
Also, if you leave all your money to a charity, it is kinda hard for them to rob you blind, what with them having all the money and you being dead.

Paris and her family make their own money. The fact that the Baron has more does not mean they are "entitled" to that money. One of the problem with all these "stars" is they feel "entitled" to get whatever they want. My parents have no where near that amount of money, but I do not feel that they have to leave it to me when they are gone. I am an adult and can make my own way...
