Paris Hilton: $1 Mil for Her Thoughts? Plus, Why She's "Sick Of" the Media

To hear the New York Post tell it, NBC may cough up a cool hot million dollars to score Today's Meredith Vieira the first post-jail sitdown with Paris Hilton. The heiress would chat with Mer — not ABC's Barbara Walters, as widely assumed — sometime next week, the day after getting sprung. (According to the New York Times, ABC offered in the nabe of $100,000 for the exclusive, and was basically laughed at.) Supposedly, NBC secured the Q&A by boxing out Matt Lauer, whom the Hiltons feel has dissed their daughter. Neither party, however, is confirming the Post's story... yet. "NBC News has not and will not pay for interviews," a network rep tells Reuters. Adds a spokesperson for NBC's entertainment arm, "We don't have an agreement in place." A Hilton-clan mouthpiece says, "Paris is not being paid for any television interview, nor is [she] being paid for any collateral, including video and photographs related to any television interview" (aka the usual workaround for a news division's noble "We don't pay for interviews" policy).

In other Paris news, to quote Isaiah W., she is mad as hell and she's not going to take it anymore! That's the gist of a phone chat she had with E!'s Ryan Seacrest. Sharing the epiphanies that have come to her in the clink, she says, "I realized that the media used me to make fun of and be mean about. Frankly, I'm sick of it.... It really hurts my feelings."

As such, once freed, she avows, "I want to use my fame in a good way." Not to get anyone's hopes up, but that sounds like she means no more Simple Lifes, ever. (But do not quote me.)

POLL: Will you make a point of watching Paris' first out-of-jail TV interview? Vote here (and be honest).

Oh great, Paris news.

Oh well...

Let's just hope that she won't have bad extensions by the time of the interview.

This kind of action by the network is exactly what causes her to act the way she does.

Hopefully Nicole Ritchie can get a similar price after she is jailed for her recent antics!

I thought the judge who returned her back to jail, told her she had to do the orginal 40 or 45 day sentence. Am I correct on that or was I just hearing things?

Interviews shouldn't be paid for. It's tacky and stretches credibility. Oh, I know it's done all the time - but it shouldn't be.

Wait- who's getting paid $1M? The Hilton heiress?? She should be paying them for keeping her pathetic self in the spotlight.

Don't cry for ABC--they will wait in line so that they can give Paris $10 million to sit her narrow carcass in Star's old seat.

And the rich get even richer! While I don't expect it, if she has a savvy bone in her body she will donate it to her so-called "new" charity. Better make it a good one!

oh great - a million dollars to here a self-deluded, sexually loose and morally reprehenisble scum bag bleat on about how hard a life she has had.

Dear NBC why not spend the million on some show development?

My thought exactly, magnolia! I would really love it if Paris moved to, well, Paris, or Rio, or Siberia, and we never had to hear from her talentless pseudo-celebrity @$$ again.

Lizzybelle, I remember the same thing. The judge said she had to do the 40+ days in jail. Don't know what happened.

money well spend NBC, first they cut John Seigenthaler and Stone Phillips because of cut back. Where did they get the money to paid for this crap? Who is even going to watch that airhead's interview. Recently Campbell Brown left too. NBC is a joke network now.

The bad thing is that people will watch this crap to hear her making it all worthwhile to NBC. It's terrible that we live in a society where a TV station will pay a million dollars to talk to her when she got a damn DUI!

I agree that if she should get $1M for this interview, she should donate it to charity. Quite frankly,I am getting tired of hearing about Paris and hope this interview(if it happens)is the last we hear from her!

"I realized that the media used me to make fun of and be mean about. Frankly, I'm sick of it.... It really hurts my feelings."

Um... Didn't the media MAKE her into a celebrity in the first place? And every time I've seen a clip from The Simple Life, it seems like she and Nicole are making fun of someone or smirking at them. I feel nothing for her. If she's really sick of the media, we shouldn't see her at all once she gets out of jail. I really hope that any interview with her tanks, so that the media will figure out that most of America is sick of this whole thing.
