Owen Wilson: Hospitalization Puts New Films in Limbo

Owen Wilson's emergency hospitalization has raised questions about his upcoming releases and unfilmed projects. For starters, Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited is set to open Sept. 28, and now must proceed with PR sans one of its leads. DreamWorks, meanwhile, tells Variety that filming on Tropic Thunder, due for a summer 2008 release, "continues," but would not say whether Wilson's role will be recast. Next up for Wilson was Marley & Me, also starring Jennifer Aniston and starting production in January. A Fox rep tells the trade that speculating on Wilson's status is "a totally inappropriate question at this time, when all of our thoughts and concerns are with his health and well-being."

On Monday, Wilson released a statement saying, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time." TV's Extra has since obtained the Calls For Service report from the Santa Monica Police Department, which lists the reason for the Sunday-night 911 call from Wilson's house as an "attempted suicide."

I don't think his part in Tropic Thunder would be recasted unless Owen requested it. Ben Stiller is involved in the project and he and Wilson are good friends.

And I have to agree with the Fox rep. This all just happened a few days ago--it does seem very inappropriate to be asking these questions right now. For Tropic Thunder, I can see because filming is happening as we speak but the other projects aren't set to begin shooting until next year.

I wish journalists would mind their own business and leave the guy alone. It's none of our business, and sensationalizing a person's problems is the pursuit of scum suckers and bottom feeders.

The worst part is the speculating on the future of his movies and PR obligations. Who cares? They are just movies, and most of us will ignore them anyway. Worry about the man's health and well-being, not his work obligations.

Business is NOT the most important part of life.

Totally inappropriate is right. These people are disgusting.

I hope and pray that he is all right and gets the help he needs. I think he is a wonderful actor.

It's so ironic that every story with Owen Wilson now includes his statement about respecting his privacy.

So why can't the media follow it? I wish Owen the best and I hope he can deal with his personal issues.

Wow, Livininomaha, remind me never to visit Omaha if everyone there is like you. What makes you think Owen Wilson "stole" Kate Hudson? Did Kate have no say in this supposed theft? Was she a helpless piece of property that he whisked away?

I think not. Had Kate not wanted to leave Chris Robinson, she would still be with him. She chose to be with Owen and now she has chosen not to be with Owen. She's a full-grown adult and can think for herself.

How inhumane to wish someone had died! By what right do you get to have a say in who stays and who goes? You seem to be an egocentric, self-righteous, arrogant bonehead - but, since I've never met you I really shouldn't judge that with any sense of certainty, should I? Which means that, since I highly doubt you have met Owen Wilson or Kate Hudson, you really don't know what happened there and should not be judging them, either.

Hey--livininomaha, everyone is entitled to their own opinions even malicious, disturbed ones like yours (IMO). There doesn't seem to be one ounce of human kindness running in your veins--and Katcon--kudos to you, you summed it up perfectly.

livininomaha, are you related to Chris Robinson or something? That's the only way I can explain that unhealthy anger you have for Owen Wilson. Heck, there are many celebrities I hate but I don't wish death on any of them, that just a wee bit crazy.

He's a celebrity, and with all that wealth, comes intrusions into their privacy. So be it. I'm sure when he was a struggling actor wanting to make it big, he would have chosen this anyway. Actors, as well as famous musicians, have to realize that they're not getting paid big bucks just because of their talent. They're personalities that we like to hear about. As for Owen Wilson, I too hope he'll be okay. Although since he's mostly a comedic actor, it may be a little difficult to watch him play in a comedy after this. Hopefully in the long run he'll overcome this.

Looks like I've been censored as my post is no longer being displayed only the sappy posts from people who incomprehensibly state that they admire this no-talent jerk ("Bottle Rocket" was good but that movie came out eons ago. This guy hasn't done anything worth paying attention to since). I think that's b.s. Owen's a public figure. People have a right to judge his actions. Not everyone's going to adore this idiot. It's a shame that non-sympathetic posts get censored.
To Kat(whatever the rest of your username is, you know who you are)I got a problem with Kate Hudson too. No I don't think she was a mindless female/victim with no say in cuckolding her husband, the father of her son. I think she's a loser too.
I'm not a hateful person at all. If I sound like I am, too bad. But I find a lot of the actions of people in Hollywood completely deplorable (hello Julia Roberts, Brangelina, Anne Heche and on and on). Taking marriages lightly and screwing around on spouses and then flaunting it publicly without any shame is despicable to me.

I'm even a bleeding heart liberal but you know what - it's inhumane to take another person's spouse. But I guess when you're used to getting whatever you want who cares about the minor fact that the person these spoiled, selfish people decide they want has a spouse at home. Oh, well. It's not a "nice" thing to do to allow yourself to come between spouses and become the third person in the love triangle. Leave another person's wife/husband alone. That's living by the golden rule, folks. Get real people ... Owen Wilson doesn't deserve your admiration or sympathy. He's a junkie, wife-stealing person. There's consequences to living like that. That's all I'm saying .... Glad y'all get to live in la la land and think that people like Owen Wilson are "admirable".

Livininomaha--I do not know what happened to your previous post--as for non-sympathetic posts getting censored-- I wouldn't use the words "non-sympathetic" to describe your rant--hostile comes to mind (for all I know, maybe your mate stepped out on you) However, (since YOU DON'T KNOW US), you shouldn't be telling anyone who does or doesn't deserve admiration or sympathy. Wishing ill will on another human being isn't exactly "living by the golden rule" either--or is there another set of "golden rules" that we people living in "la la land" are not aware of?

PatMc: You're right. Wishing ill on another person isn't living by the golden rule. Your point is well-taken.

I hope that Owen Wilson recovers well and gets his life cleaned up and lives a happy, healthy life. But I think it's soul-killing (as evidenced by the man not wanting to live anymore or to be stoned during the times that he's not attempting suicide) to live the way he and many Hollywood people do - one aspect of which I obviously feel very strongly about is adultery. I avoid people who engage in that like the plague. People who take fooling around with other people's spouses casually, famous or not, make me very angry. People who allow themselves to come between a husband and a wife have serious character flaws, in my opinion. If a husband or wife is going to step out, they'll find somebody to do it with but I'll be darned if I'll knowingly allow myself to be any part of a triangle and be a part of breaking up a marriage. It causes too much pain. Again, it's not nice. I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me so I'm not going to do that to another person (the golden rule). I stand by ALL of my statements about this issue.

Let's face it folks, we all just need to relax including myself. We just disagree here. All any of us are doing here is stating our opinions. We all have a right to do that no matter what they may be. We live in America thank you very much. I have no power over Wilson's life or death. I've got a right to my opinon. You've got a right to yours. You all are as self-righteous as you claim I am - you show no hesitation in passing judgement on me. Cheers. - "Livininomaha"
