Film funnyman Owen Wilson (You, Me & Dupree; Wedding Crashers) was retrieved from his Santa Monica home late Sunday and transported to a local hospital for treatment. On Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles confirmed that Wilson had been admitted and was is in "good condition."

In keeping with earlier (though unconfirmed reporting) TV's Extra has learned from a source that Wilson — following a few months of depression, though not due to a broken relationship — attempted suicide over the weekend. The source also told Extra that Wilson’s brother, Luke, found him at his apartment, and that family and friends are shocked.

In a statement released through his publicist, Wilson says, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

Guess he heard Jackie Chan turned down Shanghai Nights 2 in favor of Rush Hour 4....

Yeah, I'll wait for a report from a slightly more reputable source than Enquirer/Star. Maybe he fell while playing his bongos naked again. Wait, that was Matt McConnaghey.....
Seriously, I hope he's okay-

I'm just happy his people didn't come forward to say he's in the hospital for "exhaustion." That excuse is just getting old.

isn't he dating Kate Hudson? what could be so bad that he needs to get out of it? This is all total BS.

He broke up with Kate Hudson. She's dating Dax Shepard now.

I really hope this is just a case of tabloid over-exaggeration and not a real suicide attempt.

Wonder if we'll ever know what the actual event was?

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Wilson and his family. I really don't care why he is in the hospital, I just hope that he gets well soon.

I just hope he will be alright (as everyone should). As for the exhaustion thing; I felt he had been looking tired. A little compassion for his: would be nice (if he has one).:-x

Owen is awesome!!! Everyone should leave him alone and let him have "his" time. He can have all of the time he wants. :)

I guess that proves that money can't buy happiness!

I would sure like a chance to prove that one wrong though!

I just want to say that if Owen is having a difficult time, just know that his fans love him and we care about him. He's a fine handsome man and he has a lot to offer his fans. Hopefully we'll see him and Jackie in Shanghai Nights 2 real soon. The first one was awesome. We love you Owen!!! :-x You are in our prayers, and we can't wait to see you in another comedy movie.

His movies are good, especially the Wes Anderson films but as for my exhaustion comment...I'm just tired of hearing that as the go-to excuse when many of these celebs have issues that go way deeper then being simply over-worked and over-tired.

What I don’t understand is, and I know its embarrassing, but why don’t the publicists just come clean at from the start in these situations.

“Owen made an attempt on his life after a bout of depression and is now seeking treatment for that depression. This was not brought on by any specific event. We ask that you give him his privacy while he deals with this very serious ailment”

Or in other words, “we’ve come clean so there’s nothing more to dig for, so why don’t you in the media just move on to another story”. That way the media is off your back and by the time Mr. Wilson has actually recovered the whole thing has blown over because you gave it to the media from the get-go.
