Oprah Welcomes John Tra-vol-taaaaaaaa...!
And, well, others. On this Wednesday's Oprah, the Queen of all Media acknowledges another tuner besides her own The Color Purple by devoting the entire hour to the upcoming movie musical Hairspray, which hits theaters July 20. According to TheaterMania.com, in addition to interviewing the film's stars — John Travolta (presumably out of drag), Christopher Walken, Michelle Pfeiffer and Queen Latifah — the show will also preview at least one musical number. John Waters has officially made it. — Reporting by Raven Snook

This makes me sad. I love John Travolta and Queen Latifah, but even for them, I won't watch. I don't get why everyone loves oprah so much. I can't even stand to hear her voice, let alone watch her.

I heard this movie tested the highest of [something garbled cuz I didn't really understand what Entertainment Tonight was referring to] in the last 40 years. This is one of the movies I've been looking forward to the most for the summer--I'm just gonna rent Dreamgirls but I'll actually go see Hairspray.

Haha, I love it when we can apply "30 Rock" to everyday life. Just the other day on a New York Times blog someone gave a shout out to the Black Crusaders.
I won't watch Oprah because I can't really stand her or her show but I can't wait for Hairspray. It's #5 on my list of most anticipated movies this summer.

No. But it takes more than one to screw in a lightbulb.

I love Oprah, but that way she has of HOLLERING things must stop! Since that habit of hers has been lampooned on SNL and Mad-TV, I notice it constantly now! I know I'm being superficial, but she can speak plainly with dignity. After all, those of us who are tuned in to her show are already sold on what a great woman she is.
Incidentally, I don't think she shows any favoritism to Scientologists. She's open to almost everyone (although I'm waiting for more respect for rap artists--beyond the Imus controversy--and I would like to see her have Dr. Laura on her couch again (as she used to). Even though I disagree with Laura's stance on homosexuality, she is a woman who has important things to say, who got a bum rap from extremists).
