Olsen Twins Dressed Down by PETA
Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen by Jamie McCarthy/WireImage.com
"Fur Is Worn by Beautiful Animals and Ugly People" — that's the message of a poster featuring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, to be unveiled by PETA Wednesday afternoon at the site of the sibs' star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The "Trollsen Twins, Hairy Kate and Trashley" (as PETA dubs them, albeit in an eighth-grade manner) are being targeted by the org for their refusal to defer da fur, and as such are also "seen" learning about the evils of harming animals in a PETA-produced video parody of Full House. Hey, as long as it has Coulier doing that high-sterical Donald Duck voice....

I'm all for ending fur-wearing, but how in the world is calling people names going to do anything? PETA continues to astound me with their tactics.

Agreed! PETA are so pathetic with their name calling and all together childish antics. I've never owned leather or fur in my 34 years but I certainly don't stoop to their level of schoolyard bullying.

PETA makes me want to harm animals.

Yeah, I don't understand what name calling is going to do either. I would never, ever wear fur but I also understand that it's not illegal to wear it (something PETA doesn't get). People can do as they choose. Even though it makes me sick, I would never slam someone else with name calling because they choose to do something I don't agree with. I'm all for standing up for what you believe in and trying to get someone to see things your way- but PETA takes it so far over the edge, they end up pushing people away from their organization.

I'm a vegan myself- I don't use, eat, or wear any animal products- nor have I for over eleven years now, but PETA's Ingrid Newkirk went off her rocker 15 years ago and is dragging an otherwise noble organization into a very sad, old, unfunny joke. (For example- did you know that Ingrid Newkirk actually calls for euthanasia for all pit bulls? Seriously! The head of PETA advocates the slaughter of entire breed...but calls Mary Kate and Ashley Olson juvenile names for wearing fur?)
But here's what gets me- I know that only Mary Kate was hospitalized for anorexia but it is an idiotic assumption to assume that A) she is cured and B) Ashley wasn't/isn't anorexic also. Those two little girls are nothing but flesh and bone OF COURSE THEY NEED TO WEAR ANIMAL PELTS TO KEEP WARM they have NO BODY FAT! We should feel sorry for them as they have no internal heat source that they must wear dead animal skins to protect them against the elements and the occasional air conditioning. Sure, they're rich, they can probably buy full fat human body suits to keep warm if they wanted- but they don't. So, a little rabbit here, a little mink there, a side of buffalo- isn't that a small price to pay to keep our national treasures, the blink-and-you'll-miss-them, the turn sideways and they disappear, Olson twins warm and alive? Actually, I'd advocate for the Olson twins hunting and skinning Ms. Newkirk and wearing her pelt! At least that way maybe PETA would get a RATIONAL executive director who would know how to pick and choose battles.
P.S.- did you know that PETA released it's top prison menu guide today? No lie- they rank the U.S. prisons that offer vegetarian meals to their inmates. I'm just glad I haven't donated any money to PETA for a number of years now because I would be livid to think that my donation went to prison meal studies and Olson Twin anti-propaganda instead of actual education and protection of animals (e.g., their freakin' mission statement!)

This is such a big city issue it's not funny. Wearing fur or leather and eating meat is just something that is done w/out a thought where I come from. There are so many other important things that people should be spending their time and money on. Peta is always out of line and they should be stopped!!

Well said, flora! PETA has turned into the Paris Hilton of Animal Organizations. They'll do anything to get press regardless of how childish. Could you imagine if the ASPCA behaved in such a manner? There are dozens of real worthy organizations dedicated to saving the lives of animals yet these dunder heads are the only ones the public hears about.

"Trollsen Twins, Hairy Kate and Trashley"
Are they serious? Who's running PETA now? The Green Team from Kid Nation?
These people are terrorists.
Enough celebrity hit jobs -- how about focusing that energy on going after puppy mills or dog-fighting rings?
I hope they "crazy" themselves into extinction, so that a legitimate, rational organization can replace them and accomplish something productive.

Go PETA. I mean, the name calling is dumb. But using fur as fashion is dumber.

Those who feel that wearing fur is wrong are within their rights to choose not to wear it. I respect their choice.
Those who choose to wear fur also have the right to decide for themselves. A mink, like a rat, is a rodent.
I have worn fur items for as long as I can remember and will continue to do so. They are warm, lightweight, comfortable, and pretty.
I find PETA's tactics appalling and will probably support almost anything they attack.
