Nude Lindsay Lohan Makes Like Marilyn Monroe; What's Your Take?

One bombshell evokes another in the Spring Fashion issue of New York Magazine, where Lindsay Lohan braves new levels of near-total undress to mimic Marilyn Monroe's "The Last Sitting," a famous series of poses for photog Bert Stern. (See pictorial here. It's very much unsafe for work, but then again, today is a holiday. Fortuitous, no?). Watch related video here.

Hopefully for LiLo, the starlet's sometimes reckless (if not freckle-less) life will steer toward the straighter and narrower, and all such MarMo comparisons will be limited to the printed picture.

Among TVGuide.com readers' early reviews:

"At the very least the photographers could have covered her tramp stamp."

"Unflattering is a pretty good word for it. It's amazing how much older she looks than her real age."

"When I showed my husband the pics, he said she should keep her clothes on. I am sure that is not the reaction she was hoping for."

"Lots of actresses pose for
Playboy to reboot their careers. This seems like the same sort of thing."

"What peabrain is managing her and thought this was a good idea?! Even if it was sincerely done in the spirit of homage, it's too easy for it to appear as 'grasping-at-validation-through-reflected-glory' opportunism."

What's your take? An artistic homage to an icon? A diversionary tactic to take our focus off Lohan's wild-child antics? Or merely a convenient excuse for the actress to finally "pull the trigger" on inevitable toplessness?

I haven't been able to go to the site because the lag time is prohibitive. Maybe because too many other people are curious, too?

Unflattering. At the very least the photographers could have covered her tramp stamp. She looks old and worn out. Marilyn looked ten times better at twice her age.

While I love The Last Sitting, there were so many other Marilyn Monroe images she could have paid homage to - so much for her cleaning up her act.

Oh, I forgot - posing nude in Hollywood = serious actress.

I think unflattering is a pretty good word for it.

Not to sound too gross but I am 43 and my boobs definitely are starting to sag but they sure as hell didn't when I was that age! Eeeewwww.

It's amazing how much older she looks than her real age.

LOL ZZZ! Funny but so true. I thought the same thing. Her boobs were sagging! Not that she's out of shape by any means but I wouldn't be happy with the turn out of those pics if I were her.

It's pretty sad when I showed my husband the pics and he said she should keep her clothes on. I am sure that is not the reaction she was hoping for when it comes to men!

She really should try working on her craft not exploiting herself. I just don't think people see her as a sex symbol, as hard as she tries, I just don't think people see that in her.

The girl has talent. She isn't some rich hooker like Paris Hilton that has nothing to offer, but she is making wrong decisions with this type of thing. I think she should use her talent to move towards a serious movie career and forget about all the attempts at being sexy.

Maybe Lindsay could do a series of these. Pay tribute to Judy Garland, Mama Cass, Janis Joplin, John Belushi, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, Britney Spears. What, she's not dead yet? Oops sorry.

I always thought Marilyn Monroe was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. Sadly these photos of Lindsay Lohan do not measure up to Marilyn. It just seemed a sad effort to gain a little notice and maybe a chance at a few jobs. Lots of actresses pose for Playboy to reboot their careers. This seems the same sort of thing. Lindsay just dropped down even more in my opinion of her.

Heh, gotta love the high standards of anonymous internet commenters. Maybe I'm not civilized enough to be a proper critic, but I'm generally satisfied by the site of a naked woman with large breasts who's not severely overweight. I suppose that I must be some sort peasant to be so easily content.

I'm glad everybody else mentioned how old La Lohan looks. She's starting to look more like her mother everyday and honey that ain't a good thing!

Marilyn Monroe was very beautiful and exuded sex appeal. Lindsay Lohan just doesn't fit that. She's a pretty enough girl, but her face and voice are too average.

Some of the photos were nice; I thought the one where she's draped in the blue cloth with the big dots was graceful, especially with the pose of her arms up over her head. The one in the pink cloth would have been better without the panties; they draw the eye right to them and distract from the total flow of the lines of her body.

I missed the point of the side view of uncovered breasts and the head/arm beaded wrap thing. What were they going for in that?

The worst was the facing shot of her holding the yellow scrunchies. It was grainy and made her face look very unflattering.

Bosoms don't all have to fit a narrowly conceived description to be considered good for nude shots.

I'm all for the artistic beauty of nude artwork or sculpture. Some of these photos are OK, and others not, in my opinion.

I really truly like this girl and have been rooting for her career before the wreck and afterwards have been hoping to see her pull it all together.

What pea-brain is managing her and thought that any part of this was a good idea?! Even if it was sincerely done in the spirit of homage, it's too easy for it to appear as a 'grasping-at-validation-through-reflected-glory' opportunism to many people. Add to that fact that Marilyn is an icon for a reason ... even at the end of a life of inner turmoil she never lost a certain expression of innocence and soft femininity that grabs at your heart even today. FORGET the comparisons of their bodies, but Lindsay looks hard, jaded, cynical at half Marilyn's age in the comparison pictures.

These pictures of Lindsay should never have seen the public light of day because they reveal more about her weariness of soul than of her body. Sadly, they are not flattering to either one.

Wow, those pictures are bad! It seems like hair/makeup as well as the photographer have done a terrible job here. Congrats on taking a pretty girl and making her look like that.

That flipping noise you hear is Marilyn Monroe rotating in her grave. I can't believe that any manager of a celebrity would allow their client to do this. Horrible pictures and for the record--love the tattoo--which Marilyn didn't have--try pancake makeup to cover it. Serious actress my a--!!

Maybe I'm biased, 'cause I usually don't care for dyed hair in general, but in particular, have never cared for any of the rainbow of colors Lindsay has put in her hair, but one of the things I found most distracting and detracting from those pictures, was Lindsay's platinum hair. I just don't think she can pull that light of hair color off; it clashes with her skin tone. One of the pictures, her skin almost looks whit enough, but it still just didn't look right; and even in black and white, it looked off.

On the plus side, at least weight wise, she seems to be healtier than she was a couple of years ago, athough I think in that fluctuation she's lost of her youthful appearance as well as some of her sexual appeal, but I don't think it's completely gone.
I don't know how much older she looks compared to how old she really is. Compared to say, Erica Durance, LiLo seems to be doing alright (wheras not-Lois looks about 20 years older than she really is, on a good day)
