Nicole Richie to Get Her "Snark" on in Chuck Gig

New mom Nicole Richie isn't just all about walks in the park with baby Harlow, or sashaying down red carpets or even shopping. In fact, The Simple Life alumna's making a return to TV as a guest on Chuck this fall.

Richie's guest role will be that of a snarky, mean girl who was cruel to Yvonne Strahovski's character, Sarah Walker, in high school. Walker has to face her former torturer for a mission at her 10-year high school reunion, with Chuck as her date.

Exec producer Josh Schwartz sang the praises of Richie, and made sure we knew she had to try out and everything: "Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny. This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and...kick some butt." Comedic skills? Kicking butt? Could this be a Nicole we've never really seen before — or expert directing? — Anna Dimond

100% agree, but I KNOW it's simply because I miss Chuck SOOOOOO much. Nothing against Nicole Richie, it just feels like stunt casting to me. But I will take any Chuck news I can that helps me get through to new episodes. I'm so anxious it's not funny.

This appearance seems less perplexing to me than why her father, Lionel, won an award at the TV Land Awards a few weeks back. Other than his videos playing on MTV back in the 80s (when MTV played videos), he's had virtually nothing to do with TV (not that I'm complaining).

Paris on Earl, Lindsay on Betty, Britney on Mother. These coked-out tartlets who have made their little vanity appearances on our various shows really haven't done anything to damage the integrity of the shows. They haven't made much of an impression at all, so if they bring a few more eyes to good TV shows, I'm okay with it.

Oh, man! She better be good enough for the show. I miss Chuck so much and would hate to have her ruin it. Guess I better be fair and wait to see how she does. Here's hoping it works out!

This is not the sort of stunt casting I would prefer for Chuck. The show deserves much better, but I can live with it...as long as Yvonne gets to kick her ass.

I actually don't mind Nicole too bad (now), and the part seems like something that isn't much of a stretch for her. And i agree with those who don't mind seeing her as long as Sarah gets to kick her ass :)

Nicole MUST have a sense of humor and/or some comedic talent. She has had to deal with Paris Hilton most of her life. LOL!

I think Nicole will do a better job acting than either Britney or Paris could do. If you ever watched "The Simple Life", she pulled off snarky and funny really well. I think she'll do great at playing a snotty nemesis.

Gosh I miss Chuck!

Count me in to see her ass getting kicked by Sarah! woohoo.

I can't see why they wouldn't just let any unknown but worthy actress take a crack at this part.

If they were thinking at all, it must have been that we already dislike her and that would make it easier on the writers.

Please stop giving air time to these worthless 'Vainitarians'. Paris was horrid on Earl and Brittney was no better than a doorstop.

Give real acting unknowns a shot. And you writers get up off your better-paid butts and develop characters instead of using public perception to short cut your work.

Sheesh. Don't mess with "Chuck"!

Halfwolf, I think maybe you missed this line: "Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny. I supose that means any who were interested, had the opportunity.

I agree with RachelScribbles. I also agree with findmebaby.com. I think Nicole was very funny on the episodes that I saw. However, I generally thought that was a quite stupid show, yet oddly entertaining when pickin's were slim.

I don't really see how Nicole Richie could derail the show in one brief episode.

I'll take any Chuck news any way I can get it!

I just don't get how they plan to take Sarah back to her high school where people know her and NOT reveal her true name/identity, etc. Wouldn't that sort of be an occupational hazard for an undercover CIA agent?
