Nick at Nite Picks Up Everybody Hates Chris

Nick at Nite has purchased the basic-cable-TV rights to the CW's Everybody Hates Chris.

The family sitcom, which is based on comedian Chris Rock's Brooklyn upbringing, will start airing on Nickelodeon's prime-time programming block in the fall of 2009, joining other such sitcoms as Home Improvement, George Lopez and Roseanne. I have to be honest: I've never seen Rock's sitcom, though I've heard great things from my TV-critic friends. Plus, I have faith in the taste of the folks over at Nickelodeon, who, over the years, have brought us reruns of The Facts of Life, Diff'rent Strokes, Mad About You, The Cosby Show, Murphy Brown, Family Ties, Growing Pains and Designing Women.

Which begs the question: Which current sitcom would you like to see on Nick at Nite? My vote: While it's technically not a sitcom, Brothers & Sisters packs more laughs into each one-hour episode than the average season of According to Jim. Your turn.... — Mickey O'Connor

Well, I can't say what current sitcom I'd like to see--but I can say what sitcoms I wish would be taken off of Nick @ Nite!

I haven't watched since they stopped airing Roseanne at a decent hour. Home Improvement and George Lopez were never my cup of tea. And let's not forget the all night Fresh Prince marathons. Is Fresh Prince STILL that popular? I mean, I can quote episodes now because of how often they air them.

But FP is still preferable to Home Improvement or George Lopez.

Those other shows mentioned in the article never last too long. I remember Murphy Brown being added. They aired it for maybe a month and then put it on in the dead of night. Same with Growing Pains. The other shows, I think, might be TV Land.

In short, Nick @ Nite sucks now. I'm not sure who they are appealing to but I know it's not me or my friends/family.

Bring back Roseanne and Cosby Show! At decent hours!

I agree with the other comment! Though from what I've seen of Everybody Hates Chris, it is funny (I've watch a few episodes.), it should NOT be on Nick@Nite. N@N is horrible right now, and this won't help things. Home Improvement and George Lopez were both enjoyable to me during their original runs, but they are not N@N quality shows. The N@N of the '90s, specifically late '90s, was amazing. And when they were airing Roseanne, it was quality, too. (I grew to love Roseanne when it was on there.) But now, I cannot even tolerate it, even when nothing else is on. Come on, Nick@Nite!

I agree. Enough with the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. More Cosby Show, Roseanne and Mad About You. Why don't they play Wings or Who's the boss or Growing pains?

Nothing against the show, but what happened to showing classic shows? George Lopez? And don't even get me started on all the changes on TV Land. High School Reunion?
I tune into these channels to see shows I can't see anywhere else. Whatever happened to Dick Van Dyke? Home Improvement is on a lot of stations and still isn't funny. Fresh Prince was funny, but it has aged itself more than some other shows.
Put the classics back on!
