New Knight Rider Driven by Soap Stud

Stick with me here. Former The Young and the Restless heartthrob David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight in the original Knight Rider series. Now, former All My Children heartthrob Justin Bruening — who on his ABC sudser played son to Emmy-winner Michael E. Knight — has been tapped to play the son of Michael Knight in a TV-movie that will serve as a backdoor pilot to a possible Knight Rider reboot.

Let me throw you one more nugget: Another onetime AMC cast mate of Bruening's is Las Vegas' Josh Duhamel, who this summer starred in Transformers — and the new Knight Rider will feature a Transformers-like, shapeshifting K.I.T.T.

I just might watch that with Justin in it.

Another nugget of information- Michael E. Knight's ex-wife Catherine Hickland was also married to David Hasselhoff who was the original Michael Knight! B-)

Matt, you also can add that David Hasselhoff and Michael E Knight share an ex-wife, Catherine Hickland. She is currently on One Life to Live and co-starred on Knight Rider when she and Hasselhoff were married.

PS Good for Justin, he and his wife Alexa Havins just left AMC. Glad to see they are doing so well.

Trust me, I know the Hickland connection — who do you think did my makeup for the vodcast? :)

Wasn't there another Knight Rider movie several years ago that was supposed to be a backdoor pilot? I watched it out of nostalgia, but it was a complete train wreck. After that debaucle, what could they possibly be thinking?

I haven't watched AMC in a while and didn't realize that both of them left the show - last time I watched "Jamie" was going to Africa and he and "Babe"'s goodbye scene was so touching I was afraid that maybe they had broken in up in real-life, too, and they were really saying goodbye. Glad to know that they are still together and just the latest in a very talented group of actors who start on soaps and make it to prime time.

I love Catherine Hickland.

Good for Justin. I'm sure he'll do well.

What a great choice. He's a good actor and a hot stud to boot. Is it too much to ask that he take his shirt off once in a while during production?

AMC has an eye for talent. Problem is, once they have them, they don't seem to know what to do with them. How long was Justin on the back burner after they broke up his relationship with Babe?

I'm dissappointed. I wish they cast him in a remake of Hasselhoff eating a cheeseburger off the floor completely wasted. Oh well, can't have everything.

Well, the dude can't act, so I probably won't be watching.

I was so thrilled to hear about Justin Bruening being the new son of Michael Knight on Knight Rider. I was hoping that something great would come along for him. I've been a big fan of All My Children, since the beginning. Now if something will just come along for his beautiful wife, whom was also on AMC as Babe Chandler. I wish them both the best.

It's even better. Catherine Hickland - currently Lindsay on One Life to Live -was first married in real life to David Hasselhoff. Her second husband was Michael E. Knight.
