J.J. Abrams' Fringe Finds Its Young Lady Fed
J.J. Abrams ventured Down Under to find the female lead for his Fox pilot, Fringe. Australian actress Anna Torv (The Secret Life of Us) has been cast as Olivia Warren, a young FBI agent who must work with an institutionalized scientist (John Noble) to investigate a rash of paranormal phenomena.
Additionally, says the Reporter, Blair Brown has been cast in the two-hour pilot as the brilliant head of a cutting-edge research facility, while Jasika Nicole will fill the recurring role of Astrid, "a stunning federal assistant." (Because really, is there any other kind?)

When it comes to casting I noticed that where someoene is from, the color of their skin, heck sometimes even their sex is less important to those doing the casting then who seems best suited for the role after audtitions. Once "the best actor for the part" is chosen, the character is changed accordingly. I have no problem with that. Lost used the same kind of casting methods for example and it worked out great. It's not fool proof, but nothing is. Sometimes though when someone is horrible in a role I wonder what the worst people were like if they're the best lol.

Because talent transcends national boundaries? I like discovering new actors through these sorts of casting deals.

This proves that JJ Abrams can basically do anything right now.
The premise of this sounds virtually identical to the X-Files, yet he was able to sell it to Fox the same network that had the X-Files.
