Britney on How I Met Your Mother: Funny Girl?

Josh Radnor and Britney Spears by Monty Brinton/CBS
We've seen a smidgen of Britney Spears' guest role on How I Met Your Mother — but that was just a hint. Now, a bigger taste of the pop star's acting chops is available. The clips (available here and here) preview Ted's entrances into the dermo's office, where he's greeted by an increasingly smitten Ms. Spears.

The amazing part? Spears in the role of a love-bitten receptionist is actually funny. Describing the short clips might strip some of the fun, so watch them and then let us know what you think. Does Britney have a new career path ahead of her? (Admit it. You laughed.) The full eppy (if you haven't heard) airs March 24 on CBS (8:30 pm/ET). — Anna Dimond

I fear the unknown, therefore I'm against it sight unseen.

I'm gonna wait and just watch the episode. I don't want to know ahead of time.

And I kinda remember when she was on SNL or maybe it was the Will & Grace episode and she was pretty funny. I hope this helps her and also helps Mother. Hopefully people who tune in expecting a train wreck will be pleasantly surprised and stick around.

Um, she's OK, but from two short clips let's not get ahead of ourselves. Had it been any other actress without Brittany's bizarre and sad history the role (and performance) wouldn't even cause a ripple. It's stunt casting. Here's hoping that she gets her life on track but she's got a lot of work to do and a small guest shot on an occasionally funny sitcom is not something to get overly excited about.

I'm looking forward to seeing Britney on the show - hope this will be a turning point for her and she can get her life back on track. I also hope the paparazzi can back off, but I don't see much chance of that happening....they are too rabid.

Good luck Britney!

Here is hoping she gets her act together and that we do not have to see it!
I don't think she is funny...I just can't laugh knowing she is probably only functional due to her meds!
She needs a guardian who will keep her out of the public eye until she has pulled her self together and taken charge of her life and able to function as a mother and responsible citizen!

Getting a jon and working should be part of getting her life back together. It's what normal people do.

It could lead to a recurring role. Her crush on "Ted" would be amusing. Love this show.

I have been quite vocal about my disdain for this guest spot (poor overlooked Sharah Chalke).

But, in all honesty, that was not funny. It certainly did not require The Brit.

So what if she is only functional due to her meds?

There are more people than you can imagine that function from day to day solely because they are on medication for mental disorders, whether it's Prozac for depression or Ritalin for ADHD. She's bipolar. If she wasn't on her meds, she'd be acting out like she has for the past year, making a fool out of herself and ruining her relationship with her children.

Is she Emmy-worthy? Hardly. But it's nice to see her looking like the old Britney and doing something constructive.

I realize this story is actually about tv news, so I can't complain, but I'd like to see if tv guide can go a week without another Britney story once this episode has aired and the writes ups and ratings have been report. I think the odds of that are about on par with the odds of Britney winning Jeopardy.
