Has NBC's Good Years Come to an End?

As I noted yesterday, not one of the 3,653 words in NBC's press release about 30 Rock's upcoming move to Thursdays, where it will follow the returning Scrubs, addressed the fate of Twenty Good Years, 30 Rock's current lead-out. Today's Hollywood Reporter recap of the schedule shake-up, however, says there are "no immediate plans" for the return of John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor's tepidly received collaboration, though the series "is in production on its 13-episode order, and might come back in mid-season."

When I saw the pilot for that show, the only reason that I didn't walk out of the room was because I was on a plane. But boy, was I tempted. Jeffrey Tambor deserved much better than this coming out of Arrested Development.

30 Rock will be a great match for Scrubs - especially since both are laughtrak-free (unlike 20 Good Years). If the complete lack of funny on Years wasn't enough to prompt me to turn off the tv, the sudden sound of forced laughed was irksome and iduced remote grabbing.

Yeah, I can't believe John Lithgow and Jeffrey Tambor have to be a part of this dreck.

Such a waste of talent. I think the laughtrack makes this marginal show even worse than it already is.

So how is moving 30 Rock to half of the the most jampacked timeslot of the week a good thing for the show? I don't see how the ratings could improve. At least they are pairing it with another "comedy" that also contains few if any big laughs. The 8-9pm slot will definetly contains the superior comedies for NBC.

I love this show. I think both of these guys are funny. I can't believe it's going to be taken off.

The commercials for Twenty Good Years were so bad I had no desire to watch the show. However, after watching 30 Rock, I decided to stay tuned. I detested the laugh track on the first episode, but since then have not noticed. If you like subtle humor or a few chuckles, this is definitely not for you. This humor is huge and over the top. I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. However, taken with a little sugar, it is quite palatable.
