At the Movies: Jessica Simpson Grabs More Willie

Per the Hollywood Reporter, country icon Willie Nelson will reunite with his Dukes of Hazzard costar when he plays grandpa to Jessica Simpson in Blonde Ambition, the bombshell's Working Girl redo. Also joining the cast is Larry Miller, as the CEO of a conglomerate.... The Lord of the Rings' Elijah Wood will head the international cast of Oxford Murders, a whodunit in which a university student (Wood) delves into a murder mystery with a Sherlock Holmes-style mentor (John Hurt).

You know, when I first heard about this Working Girl remake with Jessica Simpson last week, my initial reaction was that it was a horrifically misguided endeavor.

But, now, with the addition of Willie Nelson and Larry Miller...yeah, I still think it's going to suck.

But maybe...if they cast Johnny Knoxville in the Harrison Ford role...nope. Still sucks.

Yeah, the casting of the Harrison Ford role is really going to determine the depths of badness of this film. We are so getting, like, Clay Aiken.

I wouldn't mind if they cast Clay Aiken -- he could put his hand over Jessica's mouth so she couldn't sing Nine to Five a third time.

Hey! Nine to Five -- there's another one Simpson can remake! Of course, she'd be Doralee (the Dolly Parton role), and I see Paris Hilton in the Jane Fonda role and Lindsay Lohan in the Lily Tomlin role. And how about the brilliant Dane Cook in the Dabney Coleman role? Of course, if Jessica feels the need to drag Willie Nelson into every project, he can play the stiff in the hospital scene.

You know, I think it could be even better than the Working Girl thing!

One more gripe: You just know that they're going to have to give the Working Girl remake some cutesy, hip new title designed to appeal to the Laguna Beach crowd, like Work It, Girl! or Puttin' in the OT.

I wanna see Chappy's "9 to 5" remake! The backstage gossip alone would fuel my blog for months.

Ha ha! That's the truth!

Makes note to self: "avoid all movies including 'Blonde Ambition' in the title."

I think that Luke Wilson (of, yes, the Legally Blonde series) might be in the Harrison Ford role, truthfully....

But more importantly, are we getting a new car-washing music video out of this?

You mean for Jessica's version of "Let the River Run"? Hmmmmm.....

Luke Wilson...that's probably the best (relatively speaking) casting decision so far in this misbegotten project, but I'm still not going for it. We'll see who's playing the Sigourney Weaver role.

I guess it's too much to hope that this will go the way of the Revenge of the Nerds remake (halted right before filming started), huh?

I forgot that it had already been reported that Penelope Ann Miller is playing the Sigourney Weaver role, so ignore that line in my last post.
