Moment of Truth Host: Home-wrecker Rap Is "Crap"

080522momenttruth.jpg
Mark Walberg by Joe Viles/Fox
While conceding that Moment of Truth isn't "doing God's work," host Mark Walberg refuses to let the Fox series absorb undeserved blame. "Quite honestly, the 'wrecking-your-family,' evildoing rap we get, I think it's crap," Walberg said in a conference call promoting Truth's May 27 return. "No family gets wrecked unless they're wrecking it anyway." To make his case, Walberg notes that only one married couple from the show has since split — and they were on the skids to begin with.

Walberg says Season 2 will branch out to include more questions outside the realm of infidelity and illicit sex. Example: "Did you really vote for Archuleta?"

What's your take? Do the Truth-tellers know what they're getting into and thus should be prepared for any fallout? — MWM

The show is just a piece of junk and should be off the air. It really stinks. There are absolutely no redeaming features to this one.

The problem isn't the show but all the "pieces of trash" or "pieces of junk" that watch it. If you watch poo floating in a toilet, they will give you that. American tv watchers have really bad taste, but so much of our country is going downhill, it's no surprise that tv viewers are too.

But who do you blame? Are they going by Nielsen families? Cause it's hard to believe that that many people who know their viewing habits actually are being counted would watch all the crap that are supposedly number one shows. However, if they are counting unsuspecting viewer's tv watching habits. I watch stuff that I wouldn't (because there is nothing else on) that I would NEVER watch if I was an official Nielsen person. And if they are just counting Nielsen families, I don't believe that they have a very good cross section of the viewing public. The ratings game has always been a shady one and the claim that these crappy reality shows are so popular is very good for the networks, because it justifies them being cheap.

What boggles my mind is how judgmental people are regarding television.

My wife and I enjoy watching Moment of Truth. So that makes me a "piece of crap"?

I also watch Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Jeopardy, and about a dozen other shows. At what point do those balance out the scales and elevate me out of "piece of crap" status?

And I agree with Walberg; it's not like these folks thought the questions they were going to be asked were along the lines of "Do you oppose the slaughter of puppies and kittens?"

While I will agree that this show does not have any real redeeming qualities, I wonder what show actually does?

Aside from Extreme Home Makeover and Biggest Loser, I can't see any other shows on network television that fit that requirement. What are the redeeming qualities of The Bachelor or The Apprentice or Hell's Kitchen?

How about scripted shows like the Law and Order franchise? They just take real tragedies and exploit them so what is redeeming about that?

What about other game shows like Deal or No Deal? A bunch of scantily clad women hold briefcases while a person decides how much they are willing to risk for greed. Redemptive qualities all the way on that show.

Let's stop pretending that television is filled with highbrow shows that are beneficial to society.

I watched the show for about 10 minutes and have not been back. If you don't like a show don't watch it. Shows don't stay on the air if no one is watching. As far as the show causing marriages to break up is absurb. The contestants know what they are in for so you can't blame the show

This from the guy that said . . . on the air . . . on the show he's now defending . . . "This is the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on television. Quite honestly, if I had had my vote, it would not have aired.”

With revisionist history like this, you'd think he was running for President.

All these people want is their 15 minutes of fame and then they, and obviously others, cry foul when they realize they have to pay the price. Get over it and yourselves.

All I have to say is take this crap off the air, and replace it with Moonlight!

I am SO tired of these "high & mighty" people thinking that their opinion is the ONLY correct one. One persons idea of "Crap" may not be someone else's idea of "Crap!" The contestants on Moment of Truth know exactly what they are getting into when applying for and being on the show! If they don't want their "Dirty Laundry" aired, then they shouldn't be on the show. Hey,they could use the money they win to go to marriage counseling! My husband and I enjoy the show and we know others that do also. Keep it on!!

I want to know what kind of people actually sign up to be contestants on this show. What is going through their minds? Are they that lazy to where they are willing to humiliate themselves to possibly win money? GET A JOB!!!

With that being said, I don't judge people who watch the show. It is certainly entertaining.

First of all, when the show is taped, the contestant has already been asked over 50 questions while hooked up to the polygraph machine. Thus, they already know the questions they will be asked during the taping are from that set of questions.

If there are questions they had to answer that they feel would destroy their marriage, they should back out before the taping. It might still cause come problems with their spouse wondering why they don't want to continue, but it is still an option.

Since the first season has aired, contestants certainly know now how it will go, so they have even less excuse than before.

Lastly, when applying for a show with that name and premise, anyone should know they are going to be asked extremely personal questions, and if they have any skeletons in their closet, they will be revealed. They should just pass the "opportunity" by, not go through with all of it and then blame the show for their lack of character and judgment.

This show is so boring. How do we,the audience even know if the results are even correct? All we get to see is the contestant and host sitting in chairs and the woman's voice announcing if the answer is--------true. I'll waste the hour doing something, anything more entertaining.

I would have had more respect for him if he'd admitted his show stinks to high heaven and scrapes the bottom of the barrel for the nastiest scrapings of humanity that it can exploit. He's deluded if he's trying to defend his day job. If it stinks of crap and looks like a crap, then it is a crap.
