Miss Independent: Kelly Clarkson Axes Manager

Fed up with the direction he kept trying to steer her in, Kelly Clarkson on Monday fired manager Jeff Kwatinetz (of The Firm), surprising only some. As one source tells Us, "Kelly had enough." In a statement, American idol No. 1 says, "Those guys at The Firm did a good job, and I really appreciate everything they did." (Note to Paris: That's how you write a statement that sounds like a nonpublicist wrote it.)

Alas, lest "Never Again" left any doubt in your mind, Kelly is as unlucky in love as she is in her representation. "I have never said the words 'I love you' to anyone in a romantic relationship. Ever," she tells Elle. "Love... doesn't come easy." Especially if any would-be beau fears you'll rip him a new one in your next single. Seriously, poor strategy.
