Mischa Barton on DUI: "I'm Disappointed in Myself"

Calling into Ryan Seacrest's On the Air radio show, O.C. alumna Mischa Barton spoke openly about her Dec. 27 DUI arrest, saying, "I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions," and then adding, "I really am disappointed in myself."

Barton could not get into the particulars about what happened or her alleged state at the time she was pulled over, but seemed genuinely ashamed. "I don’t know what to say about it except that I'm not perfect, and I don’t intend to do something this stupid again." I think she just ruled out an O.C. reunion movie. Oh, wait....

Sorry, Mischa, but, um... who are you?

Where did you find that picture of Mischa Barton!? She looks older than the actress who played her mom on The O.C.!

If she is truly sorry then we shall never see paparazzi shots of her at an after hours club or hot Hollywood party again. If we do, then she's just another casualty of the Hollywood machine.

As far as I'm concerned, she can party all she wants to as long as she doesn't drive or otherwise endanger anyone else.

with all due respect, Melissa, what the hell are you talking about?

Celebrities who have DUI's are never allowed to go to clubs now? That's the way they have to prove their sorry? Become hermits who can't go out and dance with their friends??

I completely disagree. We'll know Mischa is sorry when we see her using all the money she has to CALL A CAR and have someone DRIVE HER home. Nothing pisses me off more than celebrities getting DUIs when they damn well can afford a car service to chauffer them around so they can get as drunk and/or high as they want.

I don't think that's quite what Melissa was saying. More that the DUI was a symptom of the Hollywood excess.

Bloggers grammar lesson #1 for 2008:

They're, their, there.

Compare and contrast.

Have fun, everybody! :)

She's ashamed of herself, huh?

She needs to be ashamed of her makeup artist!

Sharipep: with all due respect, Melissa, what the hell are you talking about?

There was no respect intended I suspect.

achyfakey: Thanks for understanding what I meant and making my point more clear. Some people just take things very literally and cannot read between the lines.

No Mischa does not have to "live like a hermit." But you can go out and have a good time and not get your picture in the paper for being a sleeze or a drunken, drugged out fool, regardless of whether or not Mischa chooses to get behind the wheel again. That kind of publicity is doing nothing for these "club girls" anymore. If anything, producers are steering clear of them.

I blame Hollywood. Hollywood should step up and responsibility for the actions of others. In fact most of these drunk driving arrests are Hollywood's fault. Come to think about it most of the crimes commited are because of Hollywood. In no way was she being stupid for drinking and driving. See celebrities are diffrent from regular people. When we make a mistake, its out fault. But if your famous it's the paparazzi, movie executives, having tons of attention and money, those cause most of the problems.
