Miley Cyrus Plagued by "Double" Trouble

Body doubles might be the norm in the movies, but for teen phenom Miley Cyrus, having one has been the source of mixed responses from her fans. According to the AP, a video taken of her current tour reveals that, during the bridge of one her songs, Miley is escorted through a trap door and replaced by a new "Hannah Montana" until the real Miley reappears in costume moments later. (Watch related video here.)

One source said that body doubles are often used during concerts to help with production transitions and the practice of using them is not dishonest, but not all of the 15-year-old Hannah Montana star's fans agree. In the meantime, Miley's shows have been sold out across the country, with tickets sometimes garnering under-the-table prices into the thousands.

What do you think? Was Miley's use of a body double "dishonest"? — Anna Dimond

Why do you have a link on "video" and then not link you the video but to your video service, which has nothing to do with the topic of this article?

I do not think it is dishonest. If she had a double lip synching to 3/4 of her concert, yes, it would be. But all this KID does is keep the show moving while she gets an extra minute to change her clothes so she can entertain the thousands of fans that are there, as she does nightly. Give the kid a break.

I am the only one who thinks Miley Cyrus is over rated? I can't stand the way she sings. That's what happens when somethings are way over hyped and way over rated, people get let down when there expecting something different. Then again maybe I'm just to old at 28 to like Miley Cyrus.

Please give credit to the great show and performer that lit up my daughter's face like I've never seen before. If that involved a substitute during a costume change, then thanks for the non stop entertainment for all those kids having the time of their lives.

To the critics of this young woman having a "body double" - get a life!
It's a couple of minutes out of a long concert.
Much ado about nothing.

To the disgruntled mom who felt the need to go public: If this is the worst thing your daughter has to go through in her life then you should be eternally grateful.

Oh, I'm 48 and am being a mother hen. I have a real passion for defending children against attacking adults.

Wow, if 28 is too old to have an opinion, then at my curmudgeonly old age of 46, I should probably just walk on by...but one of the great things about being a curmudgeon is we can have opinions on every frickin' thing under the sun. So...

This sounds like something Madonna would've done (back in MY day...chuckle...) and it would only have ADDED to the enjoyment of the show. "Hey, she was just THERE. How did she get over THERE so fast and with a complete change of clothes!!!?" It would be a momentary question that would be distracted by the amazing concert...and I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

I don't know how good Miley Cyrus is (even though I watched Dick Head's New Year's Rockin' Eve, I managed to tune her out), but I don't think she was trying to deceive anyone. She was adding to the WOW factor of her show. This is hardly a scandal. After all, in this day and age, aren't most of our pop stars prefab? (Not like it was back in MY day of that original garage band, The Partridge Family.)

Just shaddup and enjoy the show!

I'm 15 years old, and me and my friend, and my sister and her friend saw the concert about 3 weeks ago. I had not heard about the body double situation then, but my friend had and she quickly pointed it out to me when it happened. I had no problem with it and when I informed my sister she didn't mind at all because this new "hannah" wasn't actually singing, nor was she standing facing the stage actually pretending to be passed off as hannah at all! all of this is ridiculous, no one minds that for less than a quarter of a song, when there is no actual singing, and background music can be used, someone had replaced miley on the stage! i think 2 hours of non-stop singing and dancing warrants a 2 minute break for a costume change. leave miley alone!!

I don't think this is dishonest at all. would the fans feel better if she was off stage for 10-15 minutes while she changed? I think not. This is normal for concerts.

It seems to me that ever since the tv guide magazine printed that the Hannah M. stuff, books, cd's, dolls etc, generated about 26 billion dollars, people have been attacking her. Money always brings out this awful side of people. She's just 15 years old and more than likely not making all the decisions regarding her concerts, tv shows, etc. Leave the kid alone!!

People make such a big deal over something so insignificant.

I don't think it is dishonest. It's not like the body double was performing 1/2 of the songs. It was for a few minutes.

A concert isn't just about the singing, it is about entertainment, and with a body double for a quick costume change kept the entertainment going non-stop.

Ok, here comes the public and the media to tear this girl down. Nothing she does appears to be good enough for her fans and more likely her fans' parents. Can people stop doing this? She is a young girl that stands for positive issues, at least so far. Her entire life is under a microscope. The girl can't breath without someone saying she isn't doing enough for her fans. Her show is exactly that, a show. She really isn't magic because she is famous. She really can't be in two places at once. Get over it! Go pick on the Wiggles or something!

Sometimes I think that some people just look for any little excuse to be upset about something. I don't see what the big deal is over her using a body double for a couple minutes while she has a costume change.

From what I've understood from this, the supposed body double is only used for a short period of time and not an extended period of time, so what is the big deal? Yes, she has to change clothes and if the body double is just dancing around and not pretending to sing, again what is the big deal? Would the audience rather she just take an intermission everytime she needs to change and them sit there bored or would they prefer a long period of just music playing? Would that make it better? To me, it is not as big as what everyone is making this out to be. Who cares is what I say.
